oil paint varnish for pigment inkjet prints? never heard of that. i can't believe you don't get any color lifting, especially with such a fresh print. is this a lacquer i guess? thanks for the video. you gave me ideas.

You should try experimenting with non glossy type of spreads. And let us know the results.

Love this idea. I’m assuming it has to be a laser print. I’m thinking a print made from a photo developing place would work. Have you tried anything less stinky?

Hi Jan, so this was printed using a Canon PIXMA ix6850 which is an inkjet printer. But a print made from a photo developing place would probably be even better :) I have been looking everywhere for a varnish with UV protection which would work better for this sorta thing, but I haven't found it yet :( If someone knows of a varnish like that then please let me know. Would love to review it 🙃

Thanks for the videos! I just subscribed after watching your Procreate 4.3 update video. I would like to know more about your color adjustments made in photoshop when preparing to print. I have the same printer you have and can not seem to get any colors to even come close to my screen. Even after buying an Xrite color calibration tool. I would like to know if you use any calibration profiles or any particular tools you use to make what you see on screen match what your print. I know it is impossible to get an exact match, but in the past I have never had so many problems when printing. I had another Canon prior to the Pixma and I never had a problem... just print and the colors were acceptable. I recently tried to print out my letterhead with my logo on it, which is 100% magenta. The output from the printer looked like it was 100% magenta, 50% yellow... It was a brand new printer at the time, so no, it did not need to be cleaned.

Hmmm 🤔 that's weird. I'm not exactly sure, I would contact the printer technical support. But I have had some problems with color accuracy when using third party programs to print (for example :Photoshop). But once I switched to the windows default print menu, all was good. But there are hundreds of things that might be affecting you specifically, I would definitely contact support and see if they can help you 👀

hey I would like to let a painting get printed. it will be about 120cm x 80cm. I really don't know which dimensions I should set the digital drawing. Should I choose 300dpi? 600? and how big should I set the canvas? I don't want to waste 70Euro and the print will be blurry or pixelated. I only found guidelines for photos but I don't know what 16megapixel is in art programms x.x I am sorry, I might sound so stupid but I am horrible with numbers

This may sound like a real dumb question, but...if you have the right type of printer and you don’t own a PC, can you print something like this directly from your IPad Pro? Really like the technique you are demonstrating.

Hi Carol! Hmm.. That's a good question. I think it depends on the type of printer. I recall seeing a printer that had iOS support, if I remember correctly :) I think it was directly connected to the cloud (perhaps a security risk). But I doubt that my printer can do that, though I haven't checked 👀

What about wood varnish that you can spray in a fine mist, use outdoors and wear a respirator mask. It’s less toxic and comes in various finishes. You will get sick from that artist varnish eventually.
