New subscriber here. Just got back in to scrapping out of necessity but I love it. So far from the 2 videos I’ve watched of yours I’ve learned more, as given more inspiration, more ideas, knowledge from tips you have said n from your crazy elaborate set up than any other KZfaq channel about scrapping. Man your fast. It’s a scrappers paradise you have there clean down to the steel tables n custom setups in the vice for quick processing of #1 and #2 copper. If I had my own space like that it would be so much easier n enjoyable for sure!!! Btw I’m interested in watching your adventure of mercury recovery. Keep them coming!!!

SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT! I absolutely hate flathead screws. Absolute pain, especially when they're stuck. 24:32 is ferrite. Those magnets are great. Here's a tip: I put mine inside a little aluminum box. I still run it over floor sweepings, but simply pull up on the magnet and the screws drop instantly.

In the mid-80s the owner of a oil production company that I knew gave me 56 huge electric motors that went to pump jacks that didn't work. I made a killing in the copper even considering the acetylene used to cut the windings out and having to rebuild the rear end in my truck that I destroyed hauling them.

35:00 That chunk of copper looks like a heat transfer pipe. They are usually hollow and have a gas / liquid in them. 51:00 As far as LED goes, I find the the ones that are white are just way too bright. They quite literally blind me and make me a hazard on the road. I'm apparently not the only one since my city has been removing the white LEDs they had and replaced them with Amber LED. They are just so much better on the eyes at night. They also had another problem with LED. They don't produce enough heat during winter to melt the snow on top of the fixture. That made them somewhat dangerous. The new fixture have a heating element in them. So yeah, so much for the efficiency of LED.

I was interested in the reason for so many different fasteners. The reason that there are still "flathead" screws are because the electricians unions have lobbyists that fight the manufacturers in order to continue the usage of flatheads. Because it adds to the time it takes to work with them and makes it so the electricians make more money(labor time) which increases the unions profit because they get a percentage. Multiply this by thousands upon thousands of workers and it adds up to ALOT of money.

The small transformers are usually high frequency in electronic ballast, so the cores are ferrite, which in the companies that manufacture them, is recycled it is pressed into the size and heated in an oven to get the magnetic properties if not it is ground up and re cast. It may be worth saving the ferrite and selling it back to an US manufacturer of them if you have one as they would only need washing, but I don't know how much virgin ferrite costs? It is not advisable to.process the electronic PCB's and components, grinding them down as they may contain nasty materials, chemicals and dust. It's best to sell them on to a recycling company specialising in them. Thanks for the video.

At 24:44 that is ferrite, is a ceramic material made by mixing and firing large proportions of iron(III) oxide (FeO, rust) blended with small proportions of one or more additional metallic elements, such as strontium, barium, manganese, nickel, and zinc. The green boards are most likely a low grade circuit board, check with Exotech, nearer you in Pompano Beach, than a Miami buyer, but all that stuff has value Those ballast wires are sometimes copper coated steel!! Use a magnet first.
