Thank you for the video. I just got the P2 and use freescan, but I did know I could import from radio reference like that. Much appreciated.

I bought the BCD996P2 a couple years ago, tried to program it by myself but to no avail. I had a radio buddy of mine help me out, got it set up, but it still was difficult to operate with too many menus and functions to figure out. I finally got so frustrated I mailed the scanner to my friend and said you deserve the scanner after all the time he spent programming it. I now use a SDR Play RSPdx for scanning public service frequencies without any issues or hassles. I turn the RSP on and scan everything I want to listen to and even more than what the BCD996 would pick up.

Thank you for the depth of the video. I am a CB guy that added ham to my life now I want to add scanning but man is it confusing. One site said they wouldn't even give lifetime support I. The 325 due to the fact it is so hard to program. The price is right and I am so close to hiring the buy now buttons but I am trying to figure out the programming first to see if I can learn it. I want the sds100 for the simplicity but I am not spending 700.00 on a scanner if I can figure this one out. You just helped me learn a little more about this unit. Thank you

I used this approach to load Conventional systems and groups into my 996P2. I am confused looking at the RR page of P25 site information, I don't know how to use EZGRab to enter the data correctly. Would you happen to have a video on how to do that? Showing which data goes where? Thank you.

I keep getting mine stuck on system scan only and I'm have hell trying to get it back out. Be grateful if you did a video on basic operations if you have time. By the way you sound just like Chris Farley. Lol

Just bought this scanner and I need to use the EZ Grab and downloaded 6 to the freescan. Now I can't find where they got put.

what if my county has more then 1 site? The Busiest ARMER site in MN is in my city about half mile away, but theres 6 others spread thruout the county?

You can ad it manually or use the free scan software . The free scan way is go through the process of importing the site. Give it the same quick key. The manual way is press menu. Then program System. Then the system you want to ad the site too. Then Edit site . Then new site. Then name the site. Make sure you give the site a quick key. Scroll down to set frequencies. Enter the first frequency . Press menu to go back to inter next frequency and so on. After all frequencies are inter just press scan. I hope this helps.

So a regular data cable that I use for my Whistler scanner will not work for this scanner it needs a special cable with chip in it? Then the software is not easy to find on internet, 3 different links tried off forums 3 different site, 2 were redirects 1 site was blank.. I helped a friend upgrade firmware on his scanner 2 years ago, said doesn't pick up anything since.. Said they may have switched over in our area and need to change settings, but between his and my scanner, worlds apart in menus or programming, this is the most complicated one I have ever seen...

Mine I can enter a zipcode and get new list to activate, this Uniden I scrolled entire menu did not see that feature and is supposed to be location based, does he need GPS for that to work, after contracting Lyme I cannot read anymore so hunt for videos to listen...

I was able to use same cable as my Whistler scanner to program similar to what you had done above, a Trunked group, now is that it, do I need to upload conventional and other too, and they all sit side by side n scan, this not being able to read is tough when trying to learn new things to help friends... just did not want to give it back to him if there was more to load.

at 6:03 i see ability to add and not overwrite so guess could go that route too...
