This is a really hard part of the language for me, I have studied plus / plu / pluz quite a lot and I still can't get it right all the time. I loved the little quiz and got 9 of them, the one I missed I changed my mind and I had it right to start with! It's great to see my understanding improving and my answers coming from knowledge rather than guessing. Thank you for this wonderful bite sized video 🙂

We can drop the NE yes, and this is where the pronunciation is important because the same sentence can have 2 difference meanings in spoken French ;)

How are we going to differentiate between ne plus and plus because we dont pronounce s of plus when there is a consonant and we don’t pronounce ne of ne plus when speaking. So how will we differentiate if it’s more or not anymore 🥺🥺.

nous avon is "we have" while nous devons is "we have to" par exemple nous devons aller au travil = we have to go to work. nous avon faim = we are hungry ( it literally mean we have hunger) or nous avons 2 voitures means we have 2 cars. j'espere que cela vous aidera!

Hi ! I'm not sure whether the "s" in "plus" is pronounced in these two examples "le volcan est en sommeil depuis plus d'un siècle" and "ce sont toujours les pauvres qui souffrent le plus du chomage" - my computer won't let me type French accent on "o" of chomage even though I know most codes. Sorry for perhaps an overly simple question, but why is "I have more" in French "J'en ai plus?" Je = I , ai = have, plus = more . Why do you need the "en" pronoun in there too?

In French, we don't really say "I have more" we always technically add "of it" as "I have more of it", that's where en comes in ;) It's just one of the things in French that we do differently than English. I hope it helps :)

I noticed when I use Google translate, the S is not pronounced when there is d' instead of de, for example: J'ai plus d'argent que toi. J'ai plus d'intelligence que toi. J'ai plus d'amour que toi. Is this true or is Google translate wrong?

Bonjour! I have come across usage of "plus" which does not fall in any of your categories. How do you pronounce the "plus" in these sentences: 1) Vous avez accès au total à plus de 300 séjours sur-mesure. 2) C'est possible de suivre plus de 20 heures de cours par semaine? 3) Plus de 60 destinations sont proposées sur le site. Merci!

I should have added it! Plus de is a reference of quantity, we don't pronounce the S in this case :)

@@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane Although to be honest, I don't get the logic of not pronouncing the s in plus de (as a reference of quantity, as you said) but pronouncing the s in J'ai plus de livres que toi, which looks like a reference of quantity to me as well! Maybe you can clear that up? Merci!
