This is one plant I have struggled with. I find broken jade leaves that have broken off in my big box stores, I bring them home to allow them to calius over and put them in a glass vessel with water. I allow the leaves to grow roots which they typically do and grow to a length of 2-3" inches then pot them up in some catus mix. My last two leaves that rooted and I potted up ended up dying. The leaves shriveled up and the roots didn't take. IDK what I am doing wrong. I did find a few more leaves at another big box store we frequently shop at and those two are sitting in a glass vessel with water waiting to grow roots. On a side note and worth mentioning, a trick or tip I recently learned is to take a jar and cover the top with clear saran wrap, poke a small hole in the top and push the leaves through the hole. Only the tip of the leaf where the roots come from are in the water. Would love some advice or tips you can give so my rooted leaves survive in the soil and eventually grow sucecessfully into a new plant.

Hard to say what’s going wrong. Have you got a grow light? Might need nurturing a bit while it’s growing new leaves. The watering has to be right too
@katiefruits3366
@katiefruits3366 Жыл бұрын
I have had this issue with water propagation too, the only thing that seemed to help was making sure the soil was wet when you put the leafs in and then water them more often than a normal jade plant until they get used to having less water. Just watch out for rot. Good luck!
@prismatica8416
@prismatica8416 Жыл бұрын
Jade can form water roots, but the transition from water to soil is very intense for the plants. In all likelihood ALL of those water roots just died and rotted the second they were asked to take to soil. Jade is so easy to propogate in soil already, I think the water stage just adds more difficulty to the process unlike what it does with a pothos or monstera. Your jade will look dehydrated, but just water it when it is 100% dried out and eventually it'll plump up almost overnight.
