If I were you I think I would use a jar with a larger opening to make removing the rooted stems easier without the chance of ripping them off. I drive my sister crazy at times taking old jars that at one time contained food and washing them really well to use just for this purpose. I have done this on several occasions and it does take patience but is well worth it to make beautiful, full and bushy pothos plants! Thank you so much for your short and concise video, well done!

Thank you for a great video! Tonight I did this to about 8 leaves from the Mother plant. This plant was recently transplanted (3-4 months ago) because it was root bound in its pot. The past two months it hasn't been looking too great. My Father removed some of the root system, and planted it in potting soil. So I'm not sure why suddenly it's not doing well. A shock to the plant perhaps? Maybe he gave it too much water when he transplanted it? So I'm hoping that these leaves take, and start rooting for me. This was my Mother's plant that she had for many years - I think it misses her, and her green thumb 😔
@tenneyplants
@tenneyplants 3 жыл бұрын
Oh I hope it takes root too! I'm sorry for your loss and think it's really sweet you take care of her plant to remember her by. And I don't know how big the pot is that you and your dad repotted it in, but it's best to increase the pot size by a half inch or inch in diameter. Just so there's not a lot of empty wet soil with no roots in it to soak it up. :) I hope that helps!
@75JEG
@75JEG 3 жыл бұрын
@@tenneyplants Thank you for your quick reply! So maybe it didn't like losing some of it's roots and being placed back in the same size hanging basket (maybe 10" top dia.) with mostly soil. I'm thinking that maybe he took out half or more of it's roots. What might be the next best thing to do for the Mother plant? Thank you again!
@tenneyplants
@tenneyplants 3 жыл бұрын
Hm, I would recommend trimming the mother plant back. Doing so will allow the smaller root system not be so overwhelmed trying to support so many leaves. And you could propagate the trimmings too if you wanted to!

a lot of mine r on the windowsill of a north facing window and the east wall of a room with a large south facing window also a tip ive done with mine is to NOT change the water pothos plants have a root hormone that they give off and helps it to grow roots the only time i’ve changed mine is if it has a suspicious mold not alge thats normal but like actual mold or if it starts to smell bad if ur gonna move the water plants into soil make sure u fill a nursery pot with dirt and plant it then put it in a bowl and fill the bowl with water to help it settle and keep the water highly watered for a while

It took my first batch about a month. When I transplanted them to soil I made the mistake of burying the stem up to where the leaf meets. As a result about half rotted.I pulled the remaining ones back up and replanted them with about half of the old stem out of the ground. I tried to bury the main root and leave one above ground so that I don't have to worry about them rotting.
