I took a White Buddleia cutting in July 2014. It didn't grow very well because of location and competition from other plants. I moved it in Autumn 2017 to somewhere sunnier and clearer and it grew beautifully. I have it on the top left of my channel homepage in 2018, sadly it died in May 2019 due to wood rott from too much soil at the base. Luckily I had already taken a cutting from this plant in 2018 when it started to grow for me. This cutting is the one I still have today and it looking very healthy.

Only thing you may want to mention is once the salvia plant is mature or even before full maturity you need to back off watering. Salvia is like a desert plant and doesn’t need much water. No irrigation needed unless you live in a super dry area or experience a drought. In most sunny areas the rainfall is plenty.

Plants that grow in full sun, in my experience here in blazing hot California (or Vegas), do best in part shade, with a lot of mulch on top to prevent the soil from cooking
@projectionv.accountability1010
@projectionv.accountability1010 2 жыл бұрын
@@Taydrum Oh, you're absolutely right! Mulch & babysitting plants for caterpillars & aphids are what got these guys through this summer. I only have lantana in full sun (& the other incredibly overused bush here, sage). Other than living on the surface of the sun + wind that reeeeaaaally tries to dry out every last drop of moisture in everything, I'm thinking that there's just so much reflected light/heat? I have succulents & other full sun plants in what is essentially bright shade. Full sun is definitely not full sun here! Haha Now that we're down to 105⁰ (ish) all the babysitting was worth it- flowers & hummingbirds... yay!
@Taydrum
@Taydrum 2 жыл бұрын
@@projectionv.accountability1010 Very nice! Lantana is definitely one of those plants that can take the heat. I know what you mean about reflected heat though, I have plants that won't survive near a reflected wall. I tend to, when I can, water the areas that reflect the heat or try to cover them with something that can absorb heat. Even with that, however, some plants die, it's just how it is in our climate!

I was devastated when the one salvia I purchased from the store accidentally got sprayed with weed killer, but then it showed signs of making it on for my family member to accidentally weed whack it, lol. I think it died, but it's partner is thriving, so I'm going to try both methods since my mailbox area where I planted these look so uneven with just one. Thanks!

The soil has microlife + nutrition, which we can't be sure there is either in her potting mix. Ultimately the roots need to acclimate to soil so the water may be a waste of time here.

I just learned this today. I bought some last year before winter and planted them. Then, the other day I bought 4 clearencs gallon salvia. (2$)at Walmart ( post bloom) blooms looked dead. Today went out and cut everything off down to the leaves and some. Then later KZfaqd (salvia care and how to prune) while getting in shower to listen. ( cuz Plants are freaking hard! I keep killing shit!) …. They said , this plant blooms twice ( only prune big dead blooms, little one you might see mixed in are baby blooms. ( FREAKING WHOOPS!) just cut all my potential baby blooms off cuz I thought they were dead. On all 6 salvia I now have. But one video said you can cut down to ground and it will grow back. .. I freaking hope he is suggesting that I can cut all my new blooms off and they will still re-grow and not just the foliage cuz I’m salty as hell.
