The bulb is edible and is the sweetest of all lily bulbs. Do some research and find out more. It can be eaten raw.

Also like fireweed, considered a weed in Scotland. They grow in cleared open areas. I love them & the bees love them as well. I would feel very welcome if I went to Scotland & found fireweed to welcome me on a stroll in the countryside. It is illegal to plant them my state, but I love the surprise of seeong the plant, walking in more wild country areas.

I first saw wild tiger lilies growing in wooded areas in the Pacific NW of USA. (Also bleeding hearts and more rarely, lady slippers, that have been illegal to pick or dig up to take home.

@@GardeningatDouentza yes it defo is a big help. My neighbour had given me a pot a month ago and now it's blooming.. since I am relatively new to gardening cudnt make out what those things were. I thought they were some pests☺️ Oh I subbed too👍👍

@@imneverwrongsometimestruthlies Well, welcome to the channel. I planted up a bed with tiger lilies I raised from bulbils, planted it up just this summer. Now some of the tiger lilies are in bloom. So I know how you feel. Happy growing!

Martagon lilies are best propagated by seed. They are prolific seeders and, if you're lucky, they will even seed about.

Hi! I’m in the US where our temps get down to 0°F during winter. I started bulbils inside the house and they produced roots but no shoots. The bulbils have been living in the warm temperature of the house. Do they need a cold period before sprouting leaves? What should I do next?

Yes, tiger lilies need cooler temperatures to make shoots. I'm not sure what you can do not. Maybe place your bulbils in a sheltered porch and see if this will trigger growth. There are methods that involve a fridge to provide the cold needed.

It has been six years since I have sowed them and they have never flowered. What can I do to help them flower?

That is strange. Are they growing well? Do they have enough light? They should have full sun. My tiger lilies are in bud now and I expect first flowers this year.

Boy, I wish I had seen this a few months ago. I planted 8 bulbs from the store, and they grew 6.5 feet tall. They were loaded in the bulbs you showed on your video, but I didn't know those were actually bulbs to plant. So, I tossed them out. I'm heartbroken. DA

Hopefully they will produce loads of bulbils again next year and you can end up with gallons of baby plants.

I knew these would grow as I have simply wrapped them up loosely in a plastic bag, and got oodles of fruits very quickly while they were in the dark. But I am so sad to hear it will take three years to see anything come of these tiny bulbils.😩 I am very concerned as to how to keep them alive through our northern Illinois winters. Any information on that? I have no buildings to store them, in just wide open gardens.

I'm not sure what you can do. When dormant the bulbils can be wrapped in fleece but when they green up they need the light. Hope this helps

What can I do if my neighbor only gave me the top of the plant where the flowers are but does not contain the bulblets. The plant is now gone. Any suggestions?

The red beetles how get rid of those they eat them.

You can try collecting them in the morning and placing in a bowl of soapy water where they will die. You never get them all but over a few years it should get rid of them.
