So many people love Tiger Lilies for their stunning blooms! But what do you need to know in order to propagate and grow them? Do you need to be cautious of cats? And what are bulbils anyway?

I thought the bulbils were bugs 😂 I was creeped out! I only had one last year. We just bought this home last summer, and there was only one! Now I have 3 or 4 popped up this and they're so tall they keep fallin over.

Aren't they crazy looking??? I have another video on plant stakes that might be helpful to keep them from falling over. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hbB3lbJ7vNmpY3U.html But they are usually pretty sturdy, despite their height. The first thing I would check is that they are getting enough water.

Lol, they are pretty tough! As long as they are planted in a spot where they are happy, they can withstand quite a lot of neglect.

Thank you for this video, very informative to me that I am new to tiger lilies. Could you please tell me when can I pick the little stem bulbs if I don’t want to them get on the ground? I want to pick where they will grow 😊

Timing would depend on where you live, but I'm my area it was late July. Pick one and look for little roots. If the roots are there then it's probably ready. Or just wait until the season is about to end and the stems begin changing color. By then they are definitely ready.

When is the best time of the year to plant the tiger lily onion? And would it bloom and grow big in a 11 inc diameter pot?

Great question! I planted mine in the fall when I collected them. I'm not actually sure how large the root system is but I think an 11" pot should be sufficient. The other thing you'll want to check is hardiness, because potted plants are much more susceptible to winter cold than those in ground. Depending on what zone you live in, you might want to consider extra protection or storage in winter.

I filmed this in the second half of July, which is when they first appeared. But when I first discovered them on my neighbor's plants it was fall, nearly the end of the year.

Why don't my tiger lilies get seeds or bulbs as you call them. That was how I got them to start. Mine bloom but no bulbs?

No bulbils? I'm not certain. How old are they? It takes a few years for them to start growing bulbils.

Does tiger lilies bulbs like coffee?

Do you mean would they like acidic soil? That's what amending with coffee grounds is usually done for. But it's a bit of a misnomer / garden myth to use brewed coffee grounds because most of the acidity from those grounds is already in your cup. If you want to acidify the soil with coffee then you need to use fresh beans or fresh grounds, which most coffee lovers aren't going to do. Used ground won't hurt anything, just don't expect them to change the soil pH. Tiger Lilies prefer soil that's 5.5-6.5, which is slightly acidic. So after testing your soil, if you find it to be neutral or alkaline then by all means, amend with something to acidify the soil! 🙂
