Easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials do it yourself (DIY) to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed wacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.
I have the largest Small Engine Repair Video Library on KZfaq and the entire internet with over 1200 videos, just GOOGLE "DONYBOY73"!
I want "DON THE SMALL ENGINE DOCTOR" on KZfaq to save you time, frustration and most importantly, MONEY with my HOW-TO videos!

I've been using gear all my life and I turned 70 a couple of months ago. This man knows his stuff and I don't have any problem in the least about just coming in to look at any of his videos at any time because even I can learn something new if I keep my ears open. There's a lot of cowboys out there talking a lot of dribble. But this young man is certainly not one of them.

Thank you for all your helpful videos. You have helped me numerous times to understand how things work and how to fix them. Starting with my Echo backpack blower, my mower, snowblower and now my chainsaw, you have provided valuable guidance for those of us that like to take care of the machines that they have. I really appreciate you for taking the time to help us all. Thank you.

Great video Donny. For new chainsaw users, you'll likely find that once you've adjusted your tension correctly, the tension will increase when you tighten down your bar nuts - I leave my tension a bit loose before final tighten to compensate. Cheers!

Thank you for this. I just have one of those cheap electric chainsaws, which I use for a few hours over a day or two every year. So a year passes and I forget these steps. It also has black screws for the cover plate, remove the cover plate.... and always I have to search for the screws. Today I put some yellow paint on them with a paint marker pen, so I also wrote some instructions on the bar. Of course this clearly identifies me as clueless... (and having done this of course now I will never forget, but had I not done it.....)

And one last tip: After working with the saw, loosen the tension on the warmed-up chain a little before putting it away. That way, as the chain contracts while cooling down it won't put stress on the gear.

My first view of any of your videos. Great job! I will watch more. I realize you were not showing sharpening technique, but near the end as you were showing your "big saw", say around 3:30 or so, the saw teeth appeared have been sharpened with a big "hook" and by a file that was too small. Notice how the bottom of each tooth has an edge way forward of the cutting area. Am I wrong? Is that a special type of tooth. I am used to round ground chisel.
