*Nice reel so far **enjoyable.fishing** recommend used it for about an hour after getting it from Amazon and functioned flawlessly. Very smooth retrieve and the anti reverse is perfect. Feels like a reel that would be double the price.*

Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod kzfaq.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.

Reeling your lure in all the way to the rod tip may also damage your top guide as well. Manually closing the bail also eliminates wear on your internal gears over time.

Shifting the rod from right hand after casting is a question for me.... it misses a lot of oppurtunities in the waters... if you’re a right handed the reel’s crank/handle should be at your left hand...so no need to shift from right hand casting to the left hand and start reeling in...
@northtexasskies32434 жыл бұрын
Im right handed and my handle is on the left. I hate having to switch hands

@noyarman4 жыл бұрын
Leroy The Hooker try doing tje right way, it takes only short time to adjust, what you need to do first is to fix the reel handle, almost all reels can be used as/either way lefty or righty.... call it lefty when the handle is on the left hand side, ang righty on the right side. Tightlines bro!

really helpful video , Why dont you come with more videos ?
@WhatAColourfulWorld5 жыл бұрын
I think this might be really helpful. Every video I've watched about spooling the line has given me the impression that I need to hold the line between my fingers when reeling in, but I don't see you doing that. Do I not need to do it?, it would sure be a lot easier if I didn't have to, very awkward trying to hold the rod and the line at the same time with one hand while reeling with the other.
@AndersFishing5 жыл бұрын
Only during the initial spelling of the reel do you need to hold it between your fingers. After that the tension of the lure if enough, no need to hold it as you reel it in! Thanks for taking the time to watch :)

Nice video. Thanks for the concise instruction. When I grab the fishing line with my finger and open the bail, the line begins to unspool on its own before I cast. Sometimes I can cast and it's all good. However too often, I end up with a big knotted mess so I end up wasting line/time & hating my fishing experience. How do I prevent this? Am I doing something wrong when I reel in? Do I have the wrong monofiliment? Do I have too much line on the spool? Was my spool loaded incorrectly by the store?
@somefishinghappening47353 жыл бұрын
Your finger should never touch the string. The bail (as you mentioned it) is down when you open it. Your finger should be touching the edge of the spool to keep it from moving. You release your finger from the spool to control line feed, put you finger back on the spool to stop line feed, very similar to a bait casting reel. Your finger should never touch the line. Try this I think you will like it.

Why do you cast and reel with the same hand? Most people cast with the right hand and reel in with their left hand. Or cast with her left hand and reel in with her right.
@lancelawhorn10206 жыл бұрын
Hello but I have to say i am right handed and actually ambidextrous in drumming, batting & also I always swing an ax left handed!!! So that being said why do you change hands to cast!??? Actually it looks sooo much more comfortable & easer but im still confused about why i see soooo many pro’s always cast two handed & i want someone to explain why it creates so much more control because if you had ever fished with me off the bank you’d understand cuz im always Getting hung up because I cannot gauge with hand/eye coordination where my bait will land or end up!!!! Its just SOOOOO FRUSTRATING!!!! Especially when you spend 30mins at least trying to retrieve a 5-10$ lure out of the tree limbs!!! Remember....i have no boat so therefore am always bank fishing & tryin to find the best, least pressured spots so im machete hacking many times before even fishing in East Tennessee!!!!!!!
@SwitchbackXThunter2 жыл бұрын
The only question is, I do not understand why guys cast with the hand that they reel with? Then you have to switch your hands around to reel. I hold the line and cast with my right hand and then flip the bail closed and reel with my left hand as that’s the side my handle is on. No need to change your hand positions back and forth, TWICE, on every cast.
