Very straight foward and smooth call! I don't know if its just me, but cleaning the flame sensor is very satisfying. Also that inducer motor sounds like a blown civic engine idling.

You should try cleaning the sensors with emery cloth or a dollar bill. The sand paper and wire brush ones actually cause the sensor to get dirty faster and more issues with the rod.

Great video ! Like u say testing is Allways best. NOT TESTING = GUESSING. Also - like u say - it’s awesome to see actual results from a Test. Bad reading before. Good reading when new part is installed / cleaned etc.

id bet money the flame sensor wasnt the problem. most boards especially goodman will operate down to .7 micro amps without fault. inducer motor maybe, but id pull the control board off the mount and inspect the solder joints of the pcb relays. i find lots of faults there with intermittent problems. a quick dab of new solder with a hot soldering iron has saved my clients alot and saved me from call backs and waiting for a board replacement.

Hell yeah. I do the same thing. If a customer decides to invest in an expensive repair I like to give them a little more value by checking gas pressure and cleaning up a few things for them.

What was the tool you used to clean the flame sensor? I usually just use like a dollar

Supco flame rod cleaner. I keep one on each of my bags,I hang it off the zippers though to keep them clean. If you don't have that use a scotchbrite pad or fine steel wool. A dollar? Not cleaning much using a dollar bill. You can use the brown sandcloth with the holes in it as well just don't use blue monster sandcloth or actual sand paper since it has silica

If the manifold gas pressure was not adjusted to manufacture specifications that will happen and also cause buildup on the burners and flame sensor. There should have been a lp sticker placed on the unit door for lp gas manifold pressure. The newer efficiency furnaces should be 2.3 iwc in low and 9.3 iwc in high fire.

80,000 btu furnace with 12” return. Furnace needs more return.

It looks like there is a return duct on the left as well. I guess there are 2 filters in the blower compartment. Or maybe some filter grilles.

12" would be too small, but I saw 2 return ducts going to it

@@hvacgoat9451 it looks like a duct was added because it wasn't tapped into the return plenum. Probably realized there wasn't enough return after the rough was done.

if you listen closely on the first fire it goes out immediately and starts the ignition cycle over

@@hvacgoat9451 I could be wrong but doesn’t the incoming gas have to shoot straight into the drip leg . Hence catching the debris .

Oh yeah I looked back on the video it’s wrong . Not being mean , you know a lot more about hvac than me . BUT that debris can get into a small orifices like txv or pistons . And mess up the whole system .

@@daygoingward918 oh gotcha, yeah, that makes sense. It would be better for sure if it was changed, but not too big of a deal. I'll keep an eye on the way gas hits the leg during its path of travel. Thanks
