Thanks for the experiments Lou. Ive seen a video putting all ur brushes like these in a pillow case tying it & washing them in the washing machine on 30 degrees, with your normal washing powder, & they all came out lovely & clean, nice & soft aparrintly, Ive not tried this but very tempted, as its a very easy solution, no washing each brush individually, all nice & clean in one go, I really like that idea as saves time. x

I like my brushes be full of ink. They work better. If you feel they look clumpy rub them on a silicon dish scourer. That will remove the powdery build up without getting your brushes saturated and having to wait ages for them to dry.

I cleaned mine out a few weeks ago with washing up liquid, I had one of those brush scrubber things with all different notches on and rubbed my brush over those cleans deep down… I did find leaving them to dry and the cleaned them again they came up really good…☺️. From Sue ( on hubby’s account) A good video as it’s something all have to do.

In the US we have Dawn Power Wash for dishes. I tried it on house paint rollers & brushes, it was unreal, cleaned them fast & even removed a lot of old paint out of the bristles. Then tried it on my oxide brushes, it took 95% of the dye off the bristles all the way down & kept the brush soft. I never use anything else & keep a bottle close by. It takes just about everything off in my artroom & throughout the house that other products don’t get off!

I haven't tried it on my blending brushes, but for my make-up brush I use dishwash liquid and lemon juice in a bit of water. Works like a charm! Thanks for sharing.

I clean my Oxide brushes with a bar of Imperial Leather soap. I have always used this for my paint brushes, whichever paint, ink, medium, or glue I have used on them, so it seemed natural to use it for my ink blending brushes too.

I use a combo of dishwashing soap (dr. Bronner’s works well) and olive oil for makeup and blender brushes. Also works for paint brushes, and other natural hair bristle brushes. Olive oil bar soap works too. If you put some of this cleaner on a brush used for cleaning veggies or utility cleaning brush (hard nylon or plastic bristle) and gently rub the makeup or blender brush over the harder bristle brush, it’s another way of getting the cleaning solution deeper into the brush.

I tend to just spritz a little water on my brushes at the end of a blending session, and then wipe AS MUCH off of them as I can, and I've never noticed any bristles clumping I'm not surprised the olive oil didn't work. D.O. inks are water reactive, so trying to clean them with oils...it wouldn't dissolve. And then to wash off oil n a bowl of water...oil and water don't mix. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for this great experiment! As Distress products are water based I would have assumed that the washing up liquid would work the best lol. As for olive oil - mmm big fail lol. I could never see that working to remove a water based product but it was certainly worth a try. I just put some plain soap on mine (not oil based) and give a soak in water overnight.

I found my favorite, for brushes, stencils - awesome for glue too, Savon de Marseille soap. Not that expensive in Sweden, & it's lasting. I make different things, but cards especially for Christmas. Thanx Lou for the video, every advice is welcome❤

Have you tried rubbing alcohol? I think Jennifer McGuire keeps it handy for immediate cleanup. I keep forgetting to try it

Thank you for this! I saw you put them in the washing machine, but I didn't want to do that because of the labels (as you found out 🤣) Thank you for showing us how to use the liquid dish soap, but now I'm curious about your natural skin care solutions 😆
