Also KEEP the ashes and when cold can be used to put nutrients back into the earth for growing vegetables in vegetable gardens etc

I fail to see the danger of a fire burning up by itself in a fireplace.. Well, perhaps if you have to leave unexpectedly and you have a big roaring fire going, But with one of those screens in front of it or witb a tilesd floor and nothing combustible near by, there's basically nothing that could go wrong, is there?
