Since starting the forum, we have went from clones, to Align, to big electrics to nitro. With the introduction of nitro, we have had everyone that has flown one lose a muffler because the bolts backed off.
The main reason for a bolt backing off is because of the gasket collapsing and letting the lock washers to loose thus letting the nuts back off, or the bolts back out.
In this video, I show you how to make your own gasket that not only seals better than the ones you can buy, but will NOT collapse.

Hello, I just purchased an older "1997" Enforcer rc boat with a zenoah engine. The engine runs fine until I added water which is to cool the engine. After that it wouldn't start so I pulled the plug to find a white foamy residue on the plug. Do I need a new head gasket or exhaust gasket? I was told to stand the boat on its bow to add fuel which I did and wonder if the water in the muffler ran into the engine. Thanks for your help!

I know it’s an old video but I had a question for you. I have a Losi 8ight with the spring holding the header in place. I broke one of the ends off the spring about half inch trying to get it back on and the tip broke off. I stretched the spring just a tad and was able to jimmy rig it back on, but now I am popping and losing power on the top end. I’m also in the process of tuning the car, so not sure if it’s due to tuning or if the header is leaking. Any input would be great.

A header that is held on with a spring always has a silicone gasket or O-Ring. I would check that for cracks or hard spots. Also check the gasket between the header and the muffler. Last, check to make sure the baffles didn't move in the muffler. Not sure if you have one, but many of the good mufflers for larger engines have adjustable baffles to tune the engine. I would also check all fuel line for pin holes as well as the carb seals for air leaks. Hope this helps. www.Rc-Help.com

Oh, I"m sure I could come up with a few, but not sure exactly what you are doing or working on. Make sure to push the carb down hard before tightening the bolt, make sure to use a star pattern on the head when bolting it down if you took it off. Use new fuel line, and put a return spring on the throttle. Not the linkage, but the carb lever itself. If the linkage pops off, you want that engine to idle.

It's a lot of fun. In fact, I'm currently in the middle of a complete Traxxas T-Maxx rebuild. Search my new videos and you will find it. I also have a playlist with all of the videos in it. Nitro fuel is getting harder to find and more expensive though since they have stopped exporting Nitro methane from China.

looks like ya took your FB page down. I'm really curious to see what's inside a T-maxx 2.5 muffler! I have to stock plastic one. but had some extra copper tubes and thought, it'd be fun to make my own, new sound, look and just have a good time ya know? I'd try and use the same hole placements for the pressure and all that, but realized, I don't even know the insides of the muffler, or how it even works on an RC. could you make a vid if you have a spare part, or thoughts on it. I heard there are a few after market mufflers out there that can damage your engine. didn't know that was even a factor! so, I'll leave it to you man! great vids! have a few in my play list! thanks for all your shared knowedge. knoledge.... know how! lol

Since these are 2 stroke engines, there is a little cone baffle inside the muffler. There is a sound wave that is created every time the engine rotates that helps with the way it runs. I am no where near an expert on these 2 strokes, but you definitely need to have the pipe tuned to the engine it is going on. I would not make my own though. It can cause a very lean condition that can damage the engine.

Can I do this trick on a ktosho inferno bro 8th scale with a header that is held on by a spring around the engine block?

If it is a square (rectangle) port that is flat faced, then yes. If it is the round ports where the header goes over the port on the engine, then no, you will need a silicone gasket for those.

Do you work on other RC er's Engine? As a side job? I learned about this gasket issue, when I was much much younger. Nobody who knew, used the paper gasket, that came with their airplane engine.
