Great video, and very informative. I love roses, and for many years, always I was very scared to cut them back in case of causing total damage. Now I am very happy with a video like this to demonstrate not only to care, enjoy more blossoms, have a healthy plant but also saving a lot of money continually replacing roses . . Thanks so much.

How late is "too late" in spring to prune? I'm from Pa too, just north of Pittsburgh, and my rose bush REALLY needs some tlc. It's not too late to cut it still, is it? I'm always scared I'll cut way too much off and then my roses will look like trash all summer. If I cut it now will it still bloom? 🥺
@plantvibrations

Cut them as soon as you can, they’ll be just fine!

I planted two rose bushes last year that had a modest second bloom in late summer/early fall (hardiness 5). Should I prune them now or wait until next spring? Also should we remove all the leaves off our plants every spring?

If you wanted more rose bushes elsewhere, can you take the cut off branches and dip them in growth rooting hormone and plant them elsewhere? I will prune my rose bushes later this week. Today it was dealing with geraniums. Last week it was dealing with Aloe Vera. Soon I will deal with several Jade plants and other out door trees that sprouted from seeds last year.

Yep you can root those rose cuttings. Look for the softer green end tips for rooting. Sounds like you have some great time in the garden on the books!

I don't understand why everyone says to remove thin canes just because they're thin. What if you want to grow new canes. You will not achieve this if you cut them off.
@plantvibrations
@plantvibrations 2 ай бұрын
You can allow a few to grow. That’s what I meant when I said you don’t need to prune baby roses, bc you want the new canes. Once it is established you won’t need new ones
