I recently bought this used saw, but I had trouble getting it into my shop as it was too wide with the base mounted the way it was. In this video I switch the base it came with to a standard low profile mobile machinery base, orienting the turning wheels the way I need them to be able to move the saw sideways instead of backward/forward. Nobody was around to help so I go solo with the help of some 2x4 sticks and all the elbow grease I could muster up. The saw weighs about 200 kilograms / 420 pounds.

Some interesting engineering there! Physics for the win, and a nice upgrade to that older one you restored.

It's a great saw - I pretty much decided on the Hafco brand after seeing Vic's reviews of his one, and I bought this one used (6 months old) sight unseen knowing it would be good - and it was. Cheers dude.

Cheers Bob - and thanks for diving deep into my back issues. If you have a chance it's be really great to get your take on the "incrementing bar" in this video [kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lcxzramkvcmRm3U.html] - it doesn't work because the holes aren't accurately enough drilled and the whole concept (which I derived from the idea of a lead screw) perhaps isn't ever really going to do the job .... any alternate ideas I wonder? Cheers

Leverage, time, and a brain, could save so many back injuries. I see these young kids using their backs (because they can) but trust when i say when you get a few years older you will regret it.

Hi Chris. There was a series of tv commercials when I was a kid where the slogans were "Never use your back like a crane" and the time tested "Bend your knees - not your back". They have never left me and my whole life aside from a few aches I've never injured my back lifting. They should run those commercials again for the younger generation. Thanks for watching 👍
