If you spray the figures with primer - I like Tamiya from the spray can - it's a lot easier to do the brush painting. Plus, if you paint the figures different colors first like light blue, green etc. You can just add the skin and hair colors and, for passengers, you're done!

I just picked up one of these buses (LHS PreOrder just waiting for ship to them; curb side pickup during lockdown ftw). I thought how cool would my fictional modern small town which is a blend of old and new school mainstree USA look like if the only bus they could afford for service was one of these vintage buses :D Also fused to the bus? You should have asked steam powered giraffe to do that scene and splice it in haha You guys make modeling in this hobby so much fun, a fresh breath of awesome that the hobby needed so badly over the years.
