Traeonna definitely. I find it very interesting, too. please note that the videos on my channel aren’t showing the way of dressing of a certain kimono school. I have certificates from different organizations, so I’m mixing them up. Haha!

Kimono Fashion that’s because I’m a licensed kimono teacher. Have to show it to my students, eh? 😂 I’ve never had troubles with the nagajuban and wider hips, because you close it on your waist. A big bust can be a big problem. I recommend wearing a corset without any other padding. The collar should be even more V-neck the older you get. Formal kimono shows 3cm of the haneri. Casual kimono only 1cm. Formal kimono should show more back collar. But I prefer wearing all kimono like formal kimono so I do the same for all 🙈 and thank you so much for your kind words ❤️

there's one/two piece of clothes called Juban (usually made of sweat-soaking material such as cotton to prevent frequent washing of the nagajuban and kimono which usually made of silk/polyester blend). The last time I went to Japan in winter and tried kimono on, it's already warm enough (at least for 3 degree Celsius) due to how many layer is in a kimono. I did put an extra layer of low-back thermal underwear before the Juban in case I couldn't hold it. The rental place added a fur shawl to cover my neck and gave me a heating pad for my hand. I traveled for 9 hours in a kimono, zori, & tabi (without extra socks) and it's durable.

Avery George oh, really? I don’t have any of those problems. My ro juban is in perfect condition. I usually don’t recommend any items that could hurt silk. I wonder what happened to your juban?

@@BillyMatsunaga It was the first time I wore a full ro set and I just dressed how I normally did (I just use the clipy belt and not a date-jime for the naga-juban) and after a full day of walking around Kyoto, I get back to my hotel and start taking everything off, I get to the juban and I discover small holes from the plastic teeth of the belt. To be honest, I did freak out at first becuse it was brand new (to me, got it at a second hand shop) but I was able to massage most of it out. This is only my experience though and never heard of it happening to anyone else.

Mostly every kimono online store sells this. You just have to looks for it. (Btw, my favorite seller is Shinei 😉)

I'm not an author of this channel, so I'm sorry for answering here, but I just wanted to help somehow... There is the main difference between yukata and nagajuban: with the same width of the sleeves yukata will be MUCH longer, it's hem will be surely laying on the floor when you put it on. Nagajuban will end above your ankles. A second difference will be fabric: yukata's fabric will be a cotton, and it'll be thicker, than fabric of a nagajuban. A third difference will be with flaps: yukata have additional long pieces of cloth (rectangles with a pointed top, like a boxcutter in shape) attached to the flaps on the both sides to make them wider than back side. On the nagajuban, there will be no such things or they will be very thin, not more than 5 cm.

Karen Beilharz hey! This is not a silly question at all. In history “juban” was the undergarment that was worn under all the layers. But it didn’t show up like today. (There are written sources from 719 that juban existed.) at that time juban looked like what we today call a “Han juban” which means it’s just covering the upper body. the long juban (nagajuban) came up during the Edo period and was worn by women for “haregi” (formal kimono). That is what I know so far. But I’ve noticed I need to do more research on what kind of fabric it was actually made of and how far juban was worn throughout the different social classes. But still, I hope this was a little enlightening 😊 when speaking about corsets it bras: when you have worn a kimono before I’m sure you noticed that the obi already is pretty supportive 😉 in history obi were worn lower and they weren’t supportive in any way. That’s for sure.

I know this is a year later lol, but if you’re still interested, since silk is the most common fabric (aside from polyester) you can just steam it with a steamer! But polyester is easier to take care of.

She does say in another video that getting the silk wet (should there be droplets) is an issue on kimono, but for something that won’t be seen for the most part and has a light color (so no bleeding) it should be fine. Hope this helps!

Carina Hack hihi! Danke für dein liebes Kommentar. Der Kimono sollte genauso groß wie du sein, also 169cm. 170cm gehen dann natürlich auch. Die Nagajuban ist in der Regel deine Körpergröße-30cm. Frage ist, ob du die Senkrechte Ärmellänge (sodetake) oder vertikale Ärmellänge (yuki) meinst? Erstere sind in der Regel 52cm (nagajuban ist dann -0,5cm). Deine Yuki musst du selbst messen (mehr Infos dazu hier: kumakimonokoi.wordpress.com/2015/12/17/tenth-lesson-how-to-measure-yourself/) und die Nakajuban ist dann wieder selbe Länge-0,5cm. Viel Erfolg beim Nähen ❤️ ich sitze grad an 2 Videos zu dem Thema, die ich hoffentlich bald fertig hab 🙈

@@BillyMatsunaga vielen lieben Dank für deine schnelle und ausführliche Antwort. Ich meinte tatsächlich die sodetake aber hatte es vergessen bei zu schreiben. Ich werde mein bestes geben beim nähen. Habe heute ein "Obijime" geknüpft (werde das als Obijime benutzen, ist aber eigentlich getundelt). Hab aber gemerkt das ich dafür noch glattere Fäden besorgen muss. Meinst du man kann einen Hanhaba Obi auch gestückelt nähen? Er hätte dann 2 senkrechte Nähte auf die 4m Länge. Könnte das beim binden stören? Freue mich sehr auf deine Videos. 💗🌸 Liebe Grüße

Bei hanhaba ist es schwer zu sagen, ob die Nähte stören oder nicht, weil es so viele verschiedene Bindearten gibt. Sprich: du musst dann evtl ein wenig tricksen, wenn es dich stört. Ich Nähe meine Hanhaba auch oft zusammen, aber dann so, dass man es nicht sieht. Du hast da also kreative Freiheit 😉 Bin ja auf dein Outfit sehr gespannt. Wenn du evtl Instagram hast, würde ich mich mega freuen, wenn du mit Fotos schickst 😍
