@@charmio I'm pretty sure there's no water mixed with alcohol(I'm talking about rubbing alcohol/Isopropyl) but I could be wrong. Also, it's a phone/laptop motherboard and the highest voltages there would be around 30, so no sparks to ignite. Besides, I've seen this trick on Louis Rossmann, he said it worked just fine if you couldn't afford a Thermal Camera
@charmio3 жыл бұрын
@@roughshaf7321 True, you're right that IPA is available at 100%. Even so, if left open to air it rapidly absorbs moisture until it reaches an equilibrium of 65% IPA to 35% water. And I do mean rapidly! One study suggested an open container gains 7% water in as little as 15 minutes. You can test your IPA by seeing if it dissolves table salt. I know from experience that you can ignite it with a lab power supply too (I was bored one day). From memory the supply was set at 12v and it took a few sparks but ignited easily enough. The size of the sparks are determined by the current supplied (in practice the important factors are the output capacitance of the supply and the voltage it's set too). If you really want to use this technique then I'd recommend connecting power first and then spraying the alcohol. Also set your supply to 0.8v, if you're looking for a short then this is higher than the supply will provide anyway. With that all said, while it can work I wouldn't try this on anything high value.

Can someone explain to me how the hell did he found the short, just my smoking the board?
@dsandoval93963 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming that he let the smoke settle on the board so it developed a light coating, similar to how if you're in a smoker's home and for whatever reason the walls get water/steam on the walls you would see yellow drops/streaks come down. Here he's coating the board and letting it dry so that when he later ran power thru the board the short would show up by re-melting the rosin in the specific area the short is at because the area that has the short gets really hot.

@@dsandoval9396 wow! Thank you very much!!! Your explanation is well written.

First off. That has nothing to do with meth. Second. That's not a crack pipe. That's an atomizer. Rosen is made from thc. Y'all nerds that don't get high kill me. I'm still a nerd, just one that gets high.

Did you inject voltage for the capacitor to pop up as the shorted one?

The problem with this is now you have rosin on your motherboard. It is worse than getting gum in your hair.

You can spray alcohol on the board and see what spot vaporizes first. But I guess dying of black lung without actually being a coal miner works too.

I’m new to this. From what I’ve heard so far, shirted circuits will gather heat quicker, right? You’re using a multimeter to run a current through and the shorted circuit melts the resin, correct? Just wanna make sure I got all this right 😆
