Welcome to another Final Fantasy 7 video guide! Breeding your own Gold chocobo in Final Fantasy 7 has always been a fun (but often times frustrating) process. Today, we remove that frustration as I explain the guarenteed method that does not require racing and does not require multiple reloads for failed attempts. It's quick, it's simple and it gets the job done.
In fact, you can use this method as soon as Tifa is controllable on disk 2. Early Knights of the Round anyone? Yes, please!
If you wonder why my version of Final Fantasy VII looks so beautiful, I am using the PC version with a number of mods installed. This Gold Chocobo method will work regardless of whether you are playing with or without mods.

I did the whole thing back in the day with racing and relying on luck to get the proper Chocobos. It was fun to do back then but I don’t have that kind of time anymore. So I sincerely thank you for this guide!

Been doing a replay with a lot of the 7th Heaven mods you suggested a while back and been having loads of fun re-experiencing this lovely game in prep for the Rebirth release. Back when FF7 came out on the PS1 I gave up trying to get the Gold Chocobo. Fast forward many years later and I was able to finally do it using this guide for the Nintendo Switch. Follow the guide exactly as the video describes and you can’t go wrong. No time to sit back and enjoy the long Knights of the Round summon 😂. Thanks for the video 👍🏻

Following this guide everything wokred out perfectly. I fed my new Golden One 30 Sylkis Greens und got over 158 speed and 752 Stamina making it probably stupidly overpowered for racing as well. So... yay :) you just spared me so many hours of grinding, I dreaded this part of the game when i decided I needed another go since i had forgotten almost everything about the story and still had some trophies left Thanks a bunch, mate :)

IT WORKED!!! Took a few resets on my Switch BUT worked on my Switch. Had missed Ramuh so I had to go back, reload, and do it again. Thanks for the guide! I spent hours doing this on another file and it didn't work BUT since I had barebone bottom I was figured I would try it here and now and it was good to go.

This is the second time I've played through the game, but the first time doing the chocobo breeding. On the PS2 with the Greatest Hits copy of the game, this guide worked like a charm! It's a lot easier to do this with visuals rather than reading a text guide to do this, so thank you for making this guide!

This worked wonderfully. It's super easy to follow especially if it's the first time doing stuff with chocobos. If you're doing it to 100% the game and dont wanna spend too much time on chocobos just to get one trophy I definitely recommend this.

I used this method then bred the gold female and wonder male with the zeo after feeding the great female 3 k greens to get a male gold. I then bred the male gold and female gold with any nut other than the zeo to get a female gold. Rinse and repeat - I now have a stable full of 6 gold Chocobos 👌🏼👌🏼

Worked perfectly on Playstation 1 NTSC doing exactly as you did. I was a first time FF7 player and didn't know that i need the Gysahl Greens to keep the Chocobos on the field, but it took a minute to fly to get them. Also i had the Config-ATB at Recommended and learned that i have to have it at 'Wait' because i had so many items that the Choco ran away far before i got to the Gysahls :) And that was my first encounter and it had the rabbits+Choco and it took me 10min to find the right combo again. I had an awesome time with this guide! Thank you! 🎉

Next time, I recommend manually moving your capture greens to the top of the list using the arrange feature. Saves you a massive headache.

Thank you for recommending to make multiple save files. I was on my first playthrough and didn't make any backup saves before the final boss fights and i didn't have any of the items needed for the last two forms of the final boss because all the other fights i could just clear by leveling up enough so the final boss got impossible to clear, and luckily i had one save right before the last feeding and last breeding, so now i have the gold chocobo and now i can get the items needed and even though i have to replay discs 2 and 3 i'm already most of the way through and i have enough time to actually learn the fight systems and item systems this time :)

I was losing my mind for near an hour (maybe more) to get the River Chocobo, i'm playing on PC with 7th Heaven Mod Manager with about 10 mods installed, turns out, one of my mods were screwing with the colors of the chocobos, causing them all to be yellow regardless of the actual color (which is weird because the colors are accurate for chocobo racing itself, just not my bred chocobos, which are all yellow regardless if it's a blue/green etc.), after shutting off all my mods, i got the gold within minutes! been subbed to your channel for YEARS since your FF12 videos, thanks a ton again for this one!
