For those with body dysmorphia or dysphoria that have a hard time recording yourself, Wear baggy clothes and maybe even a mask (we all should have one cause of the panaroni) also remember you don’t have to show your practice to anyone (although showing to other dancers can help you get feedback)

So I’ve been dancing for like almost 8 years now, and I do want to add some tips that might be helpful~ 1. Make sure to stretch before you dance otherwise you may pull a muscle or hurt yourself (not fun) 2. Be confident and don’t be really stiff with the moves (basically keep your arms and legs strong but dont keep them so stiff it looks like your movement isnt a flow) - i hope that made sense 3. Learn the choreography a few steps at a time then go back and practice it at your preferred speed, then keep adding on more steps and practicing. When you feel comfortable with that speed and you’re confident you know the moves, you can try the normal speed (or a speed faster than the one you practiced with) 4. You don’t have to use counts, you can relate some parts of the choreo to lyrics and then when you hear the lyrics you know the moves. 5. For picking a song you want to learn: Pick one you really like or listen to a lot. When you really like the song, it shows in your expressions and dance, and it looks a lot better overall. 6. CONSISTENCY is KEY! Don’t just practice it once and expect to do it exactly like the mv a week later 💀 thats not how dance works. Try to practice a few times a week, its easier to remember choreography if you practice that often. 7. If you can’t understand a certain move, PLEASE don’t take the easy way and improvise. Go back and actually try to find out what the correct way is. It will look much more cleaner and not as sloppy. 8. ACCENTUATE the moves. To you, it might feel like you are moving a lot, but to someone viewing your dance, it might not look like that, so in order to make it look as clean as possible, accentuate each move (make it look big) I hope this helps !! Btw~ I might add more tips later on if I feel like there’s more to include, but this is basically all! I can explain anything in more detail if needed Have fun dancing

I've been self teaching myself kpop dances since 2018 and here are some tips from me as well :)!!! (I have improved a lot so I think I'll be somehow helpful) 1. Consistency is the key. 2. Pay A LOT of attention to your facials and lip syncing. You can try to play kpop random dances and mostly focus on your face and not dancing. You'll look a lot more confident and attractive. 3. Try to learn how to control your body energy. If you dance to both ggs and bg, like me, you'll have to deal with the issue that your energy will have to change. Bgs usually use a lot of aggressiveness and stamina so you'll have to get tired in order to look decent. Meanwhile, ggs usually use softer and smoother moves so you'll have to work on your body control mostly. 4. Take your time. I personally need almost a month to learn a whole choreo correctly. It's not a shame being a slow learner. Just make sure that you've learnt it decently no matter how much time it took you. 5. If you see that your brain can't focus or can't get it together, dance to other choreos you know and have fun. You'll see that you'll be able to concentrate better after. I hope I helped! Thank you for the video ❤️

Dance in front of a mirror or film yourself on the phone(it'll help you to see your mistakes). Make sure that you know all moves and feel confident dancing them. When I was dancing "I can't stop me" I didn't pay enough attention to some moves. Then I film myself on the phone and that was horrible(some part was good while others were weird). The 2 most important things are practicing and enjoying. Idols practise for tens of hours(I always was wondering why I can't dance like they by practising just 1 hour😅). Slowly you will become more confident(as a result youtr dance become energetic and clear). Thank you for your attention! Maybe you've heard that tips and I hope they will help just keep going(Rome wasn't built in on day). Love yourself 🤗 *Sorry for my English

I don’t know how much this helps but I’m self taught (most of the time, I admit I have gone for some kpop dance lessons but they weren’t exactly professional, just to learn dances) but I’ve been doing kpop dances for 3 years now so... When starting out, I noticed that the others in the class already had their basics learnt (simple basics like head isolations, chest isolations, chest pops, body waves, simple footwork etc) I think it’d help if one takes time to do simple exercises that will help their basic foundation cause it will really help you. Your technique will be better and doing certain moves will be easier. Then you can focus on mastering the choreography better. Personally it has helped because now I’m really good in using my chest and head isolations.

this sounds kinda odd but head (?) movements matter a lot too so like turning your head to one side could completely change how it looks when you’re doing the specific move.. or maybe check in a mirror or record yourself and see what could be fixed to look better
@dancewithzin3 жыл бұрын
If you're working on your posture just make sure your head and shoulders are aligned and relaxed... Start at a slower speed and record yourself on the camera (really important) just make sure to not stress out if it looks bad and be patient (this was really hard for me lol) take a break and continue just don't be hard on yourself.... another way is to edit comparison videos/ side by side and analysis what looks good & make sure to not compare body types with the original and only the way they carry their body before and after every move..that's the part which causes stress or stiffness mostly but the results are guaranteed 💯.... Hope this helps 💕

I’m a technical dancer and if you want to know how to fix your posture what you’re gonna do is pretend you have a high pony tail and someone is pulling it upwards try to straighten your back and pull in your butt suck in your abdomen and keep your shoulders down reach your neck up so it looks longer too now stay there and maintain the posture for the rest of the dance it will be hard at first but keep going and soon it will feel natural.

After I practiced I filmed myself and studied my dancing side by side with the dance practice. Ofc I watched myself at a slow speed so I could really see how well I did. I then posted my dance cover with a disclaimer saying I just started and I actually got a lot of advice. The people were really nice and weren’t too rude and judgmental. i think something that has helped me tremendously is being more present. 90% of the time, we are idle, just using the body parts necessary. however, when you dance, you need to remember you have so many body parts to move! wrists, fingers, hands, legs, knees, torso... remember that YOU are the one dancing, not the person in the dance tutorial. and i recommend excentuating your movements too, because even though we may think we're moving a lot bc we feel it, to others, we are barely moving. I like to think what it would look like from someone else's pov sometimes. idk why it helps me. also remember to do every intricate move correctly. don't fling your wrists in random places, but, rather, do it in the order that the dancer you are watching is. hope this helps.

4-5 years ago, I was learning the dances I encountered on social media. to be honest, the biggest factor in my interest in dance was social media. I stopped dancing for a while. Moreover, I have made incredible progress in a few months and I do not intend to quit dancing.

I am two years in my self-taught kpop journey and honestly, these tips were really helpful....I didn't even realize how much I was pushing myself to learn the choreography faster, not letting myself practice and perfect the moves. Most of these tips are really important and I'm glad I youtube recommended your video to me today! Thanks a lot!!

Just feel for the beat, if you can bop your head on beat then you can count. And if there are 2 moves in one beat it would be for example 2 and 3 in the length of one beat. I hope this helps!

I love dancing so much I have since I was very little I’m in dance but I won’t be going for awhile because quarantine and I haven’t had much experience with dance and I’m kinda sloppy so I made it a habit to stay home and do dances even if it’s just like 15 seconds I’m a very determined and hard working person so this helps!

With learning the dance (reflecting to tip 5) I try to watch the dance video mirrored and try to memorize the video. I watch the video repeatedly when I can and pay attention to different parts of the dance for about a week. Then the second week I try to practice with what I remembered and with what I don’t remember I go back and study the video and try again. It really helps and I really recommend.
