How-To | Quickly Reinstall Your Front Wheel

Installing a front wheel is likely one of the simplest tasks, but it can sometimes prove to be a real pain. It even became a hot topic of discussion earlier this Supercross season when Rockstar Energy Racing Husqvarna's Jason Anderson's front wheel blew out during a first turn crash at the 2018 Salt Lake City Supercross. To some, the front wheel swap to Anderson's Husqvarna FC 450 Rockstar Edition took entirely too long, so naturally social media was quick to judge. We figured this video could be a helpful tool for many riders, so have a look, as you may learn a new trick or two.

I have a fork like this on my mountain bike and I've never changed a wheel bolted in like this before. I wasn't sure the best order to tighten everything and I could not find the information any where. Turns out every question I had was in a video for dirt bikes, and the video was so clear and informative even it helped with a mountain bike.

Sorry. After I made a tool to make sure my fork legs are parallel, I found both the compression and the brake methods to be as far as .030" out of parallel. Once I faced off a piece of aluminum round stock to 5.661" long, (the distance i figured out, between the plated slider tubers, from my triple clamp.), and used that, (through the holes of my brake disk to get the gauge as low on the forks as possible), to make sure my fork legs are parallel to + or - .001",---I had to go to stiffer fork springs because I eliminated all the binding that these methods left behind.

5.661" long is the correct length for the 2019 YZ250 2-stroke MX bike.

Should there be a small gap on the right side between fork clamp and spacer? (Non brake side)

@@spookslam The axel for this bike should be tightened First making sure the axel is bottom out and against the brake side fork then the non-brake should be alined and the best way to do this is using the Motion Pro fork alignment tool and tighten the pinch bolts. This tool will do 3 things, perfectly aline the forks, make the forks feel the same all the time, and make your fork seals last twice as long. Once you use this tool you will never want to install your front wheel without it.

@@zl2848 The way he's doing it is not correct without that tool your just guessing I am Not associated with motion pro at all I have been involved in the suspenion industry for over 20 years and I can tell you that tool is a must if you want the forks to work consistently the same
