This is my last week at my job! I quiet quit three months ago. Saved up, went through coding boot camp, taking online course on building my own remote business based on my existing skill sets. Signing up to do temp work while continuing to transition into a new career. Quiet quitting helps to plan your endgame.

Quiet quitting is a temporary reprieve from a stressful job. The same misery will still be felt until action taken for real change. Since you are a K drama fan, have you seen My Liberation Notes? Excellent character study of what many of us are going through to liberate ourselves from the grind.

Exactly!!! I wish more people understand that the relief is really only temporary and ultimately you have to make a long term game plan.. And oooo no I haven’t!! I’ll have to check that one out! Thanks for the recommendation!

No problem! Popularity built by word of mouth after Gong Yoo raved about it. Main characters engage in quiet quitting in their path to professional and personal liberation. Very deep and avoids K drama clichés.

Good luck and positive brain waves out your way from another nurse that also stepped in another direction. I enjoyed using a countdown app, dreamdays, so that I could glance at the number and see that it's at least going in the correct direction. :) Taping pretty photographs to my work clipboard was helpful also.. just calm serene long shutter speed kinda mountain creek water photographs. But I knew what the pics symbolized and seeing them would give me a silent smirk with a wave of hope. May the force be with you while you paddle your canoe towards goals. :)

When not on hourly wage, but on full time salaried job, the company expects you to often work evenings, even weekends - a deadline, an urgent project, all sorts of reasons - which is essentially wage theft. Working extra hours but not getting paid. Labor dept. should investigate, clearly it's wage theft.

Learned about you from watching that CNN clip so came here to cheer you on... just wanted to say gogogadget & good luck. I'm what would be considered a boomer age and wanted to add that yep for sure we've been doing this for years and ignore the folks that say it's new or wrong. They're just not being honest, with themselves or others both, and you're just speaking about it upfront. We just called it "CYA" "Looking out for yourself" "Scheming a plan" "Chapter next here I come" Anywho. Keep being honest and very best of wishes out your way. :)

Paige - I love your channel. Thank you. I am 25, and I quit working for NOAA as a federal employee. I have a very similar background to you - I studied molecular biology and became a data scientist which landed me a federal job at 25. 60k a year, full benefits, healthcare, but I wasn’t happy because I never had time for myself anymore and I hated the government and it wasn’t the right fit for me so I quiet quit as well. I now produce television shows, and I make good money doing that sort of work! I appreciate you a lot for being open and you’ve gained a new subscriber! Keep up the good work :)

QUIET QUITTING should really be called GO SLOW, which is what it has been called for decades (maybe centuries). Most workers go slow: accomplishing just enough to keep the job but not really pushing too hard. Remember your boss and coworkers aren't stupid, they are going to see what you're doing and call you out on it and you'll probably be fired anyway.

Another great video, Paige! These are excellent tips. I didn't quiet quit...I just quit! 😂Let me explain: Whenever I was fed up with that job (which happened A LOT), I calculated what my projected expenses would be if I were to quit in "such and such" month. The numbers never worked, so I stayed. But when I worked out the numbers in July 2021, they worked! I put my resignation in that same day. I guess I was just planning my escape for 2 years, but only left when it made sense!

Thanks Natesha! I love this!! I totally relate to waiting for the numbers to work😅 so happy for you for being able to finally escape😍 Sometimes just quitting works and you never even have to quiet quit!😆

I've been quiet quitting since last year. It took a while for employer to either catch on, or care. But I'm done on October 14th of this year. Nice video, and saw the piece on CNN.

I saw you on smerconish You did very well. Stick it to old controlling ass people. They are judgemental. People these are jobs not your whole life. Old gesers are mad because younger people have found a way to make their own choices. Life your best life.

Quiet quitting has been done for generations. Naturally people are going to look for a job to support their lifestyle. Their ambition to earn more money, work hours to better suit their home life or consider the commute...whatever their concern is. People have always strived to find employment that supports their ability to be comfortable & self sufficient. Meanwhile you work jobs as stepping stones. No big deal. Let's not forget though... Promotions come within a company with hard work too. Nobody is entitled to be paid without the expectations of labor being fulfilled. Old or young.

Staff should give their Supervisor some feedback as they exit, and let them know why they quit. It may help them with their future employees so they can retain talent. Thanks for sharing.

All while those who strive a little more will get a higher bonus rate, higher pay increases and promotions. Yes, continue with your #quietquitting while wondering why you didn’t get that promotion or important seat at the table. And when the dreadful decision to right-size the company comes along, you’ll be amongst the first to go. Good luck with that!! 🤣

Agrreed. We’ll see how these people fair when the recession gets worse and employers are forced to do layoffs. I’d expect these type of employees will be the first to go and last to be called back.
@PaigeWestCo

I think the thing you're missing here is that quiet quitting is for those who don't want the promotion or the important seat at the table! I do agree that doing it long term is not the best move for the exact reason you described during layoffs. Best to do it with intention and create a plan to fully quit!

I guess the cat is out of the bag cos older and smarter workers have been doing it for ages. It is never about working longer hours or slogging harder. It is all about getting the most out of life with the limited time and resources one has.

The idea here is with HR departments now in large corporations and the opportunity to have documentation given to you over time it is best that you are able to milk it for as long as you can low for as long as you can and actually quit at the very last minute before you’re gonna get fired in fact you should anticipate the day that you’re going to get fired when they call you and and they’re going to serve those termination papers, that’s when you turn in your resignation , you can loaf on their dime as long as you can, work the system to the very last minute that’s how that’s done and that’s what she advocates.

I know what you're really talking about is planning a transition and not sacrificing yourself for a job you want to leave in the future. However, the internet is forever and when you need a job in the future, you'll always be seen like another entitled millennial wanting to get paid to do nothing. Promoting yourself like this is very unwise. Call it something other than "quiet quitting".
@asif9t9

This video suggests quiet quitting is literally quitting. Just planning ahead. The talk in the media has been that quietly quitting is just working forever but not trying any more than the hours in the day. So not going above and beyond.

As a employer's point of view, this is a selfish act. If you don't like your job, just quit. Let someone else has yours. Image that your boss plans a "quite firing" you while finding a cheaper and smarter replacement. She is doing "quite earning" her living from KZfaq.
