Knitting patterns can look pretty confusing to a beginner, so in this video I'm taking you through both written and charted knitting patterns, what they'll include, and tips on reading both.

Really useful video! I'm definitely going to refer to it later if (when...) I get into knitting.

I strongly dislike charts, and have been hugely frustrated and struggling with a cable-knit scarf pattern that is only charted, just this past week or two, but thanks to your video, I think I’m finally equipped to properly transcribe it to a written pattern. Perfect timing! Thank you!

Oh that's brilliant! Really happy to help. This is the thing, everyone's got their preference but if you can at least *understand* the other one, you can work with it in some way

As a non knitter and just a cross stitcher these patterns seem crazy!

Thank you for a very informative video! I tried to learn to knit years ago but never picked it up. I am looking forward to a crochet video along the same lines. Will surely have questions then🙂

Ahhhh, you have the exact same model of Bernina as me. I have never seen anyone else with an Activa 140. Cool!

Would definitely like a crochet version please. Not that I've tried to read a pattern yet.

Have to be honest, I've only done intarsia a couple of times so am by no means an expert. There are plenty of great videos out there though from people way more knowledgeable than me. Sorry I can't be more help! 😅

I have been knitting awhile and patterns can still throw an “ old timer” off……..pattern work can still be a bit sticky at times and so appreciate when they give both written and a visual……the ability to visualize the look of the work reminder is also helpful……before I forget …Do You by chance follow KoolKookyKreatures…….her archive of different projects/ works reminds of your eclectic style!

I don't but will have to check her out. "Eclectic" is certainly me, haha! And yeah I love when patterns give both options, especially sometimes things can be a bit more ambiguous in written form so having a chart or other visual to check against is really useful.
