I just finished fixing my simpson meter! I think someone had tried to do some in circuit resistance testing. R18 was burned out. I really enjoyed the description of the circuit with animation. It was very helpful. I spent a LOT of time staring at that circuit.

That's really cool showing how the busses connect. Great animation as always Rick. Thanks bud.

Thanks. I think animation helps explain this circuit connections, and I think you'll remember how it works.

Great graphics illustrating the function select! 260s are great meters. I’ve purchased Simpson 260s that spent their lives getting knocked off tech school work benches. A little JB Weld, a little solder and those things keep on ticking.

Thanks. I still have my Simpson 260 I bought when I was still in High School 1960-63.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen a fuse go high in resistance before. Good find!

Wow, so on Rx100 and Rx10,000 we zeroed out the high resistance fuse. I never considered that.... I assumed it zeroed so all is well. Great lesson. Thank-you! Merry Christmas!

Seen that same sort of symptom on several analog and digital multimeters when well intending fuse replacers and ill informed. Thanks for sharing.

Great graphics as always. I have been wanting a Simpson. 260 There have been times that I wish I had an analog meter. Used one in my electronics class in the 1970s. How much should I pay for one on Ebay? Series 7 seems like a good middle of the road series.

eBay has a search that allows you to see the prices that items have been selling for, I think.

I have to wonder if possibly that fuse had a load that was at or near 100% for a sufficient time that it was about to open, but the load was removed right before it did. Since it was a slo-blo fuse, it could have had 100% load for a minute or two before it was ready to open.
@AllAmericanFiveRadio4 жыл бұрын
That's possible. I'm beginning to think someone put the wrong type of fuse in this meter. But still the resistance of the fuse should be only an Ohm or Two.
