@@mastertheguitar You're welcome! This video not only helps me to learn to play this specific solo much more accurately but I've also learned from how you hold your pick how to get pinch harmonics much more accurately and other techniques that can improve my overall playing of everything else.

I've spent months on this song.. It's just so hard. This video showed me a different approach to the solo and made it a bit easier, same notes just different position of pentatonic scale. I think I'll be able to master it better now. The final lick of the main solo is still ludicrous speed, but like you said, if you get the phrasing right, it doesn't make much of a difference.

Should stick the link to your patreon in the youtube info bit. Also, should do a full playthrough of the solo first before the breakdown, i think, to give context for the lesson... keep up the good work dude !

Amazing lesson! Has helped so much with this song. One thing I found that helped me with the alternate picking starting at 13:23 (phrase 8 etc.) is if you start with an up stroke instead of a down stroke it solves the awkwardness of changing strings. Continue to alternate pick, just start with an up stroke.

Egads...how does such a nice young man get involved in playing the devil's music? What a nice piece of shred-teaching...I don't even play guitar but to see the craft required to achieve this (both Jake's actual writing of this solo and the many vids in which people have learned to play this song) is truly astonishing. Nice bit of teaching...If most people who have to teach something taught as well as you have done here, we'd be doing alright!

Thanks so much! I used my Line 6 HELIX for the tone basically modelling a JCM800 Marshall vibe with a BOSS SD-1 in front and some flanger on there too. The patch is available here www.patreon.com/posts/bark-at-moon-01-34019391

I would really love to know HOW you get such a meaty tone from a Strat bridge single coil pickup?

The pickups are Irish Tours from Bare Knuckle, which are medium-high output. The bridge pickup also has a zinc baseplate added which helps fatten things up a little. Then, tone path wise, I created a preset for my Line 6 HELIX which is essentially a hot rodded Marshall with an overdrive pedal in front. HTH
