Did you know you can reamp with the Boss Katana and it's really easy to do!
In this video I show you how you can record a "blank" guitar tone and then go back and re record it with a new tone. The katana can do so much and if you are into recording guitar, this is something you have to try.

The Katana is the gift that keeps on giving. It came out like 7 or 8 years ago (4 for the Mk2s) and people are still discovering new tips and tricks. Man, that is Geeky!

Hallelujah! After searching for videos on this subject for two days and kind of finding what I wanted but not quite; I circled back to your channel and the fog cleared. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this fairly complex concept (Man that’s geeky!) in a way that encourages people to try. Many of the videos out there seem to be so specific, that if you’re not using exactly the same rig, computer and DAW you still end up guessing. Keep doing what you do!

Happy Holidays Guitar Geek, Thanks so much for putting up this video. I've been wanting to do this with my Katana and couldn't find out how to do it until now. Super valuable ! I was doing a DI before and using my plug ins, but now I can reamp back to my Katana for even better tones.

That was extremely useful! Finally I understood why there is this distinction between "primary" and "secondary" in my Katana USB channels and what purpose they serve. BTW, based on your videos, I just upgraded to a 100W Katana from my Katana Air, which is a great practice amp, but lacks the effect loop I badly needed.

Considering getting back in to trying to learn guitar and getting a Katana for that reason; and since I'm a bit of a geek in general myself, I already knew what reamping was in theory. So I was wondering if it was possible to reamp with just a katana and how simple/complex it would be. Well, consider my curiosity satisfied! And despite never having ever recorded a single thing in my life, your explanation makes me feel confident I'll be able to do it myself. Thanks a bunch, excellent and inspiring content! Man, that is Geeky!

about 35 years ago, (showing age) I did a recording session at quite a well known Studio in London, the Engineer made me do the songs with a totally clean dry amp, which came as a shock as I normally played through a Marshall 100 Superbass with a metal zone on the front, cranked to brain damage levels, it was not fun to do the recording, but he did exactly what you are saying in an analogue way and got a great tone, by reamping post.

Holy moly, I need to record some stuff tomorrow evening and turns out we need dry AND wet signals sent for mixing/mastering later. Looked up that I wanted to use the katana like a VST and read on reddit that this is called re-amping. Got confused by the diagram alone and BOOM found this video. Thank you 1000 times and then some.

Mac setting (channel 1 & 2 wet signal and 3 & 4 dry) also work on Linux combined with Ardour by the way. The Katana "drivers" are standard present in modern Linux Kernels (as of version 5.16 if I remeber it correctly). FXFloorBoard is "useable" on Linux, just takes a time to load, press wait when it's complaining ... can take a few minutes ...

Man that’s geeky! It’s also so useful you can’t imagine… even more so since I suspect it will also apply to my GX-100. I have two simple questions if you don’t mind. 1. The inputs and outputs being discussed here are virtual right? 2. I usually find the USB input signal to be low in volume, is it ok to apply some kind of gain plugin on it, or will that distort the signal. Subscribed.

Funny what just happened.. normally I wouldn’t be able to playback audio/backing tracks through my katana speaker via the usb, therefore listened through my headphones. While following this video I decided to set the master output in my daw to katana secondary and see what happens. I managed to have the backing track audio and the live guitar sound output from the katana internal speaker (using the mkII head). 🤔 I’m only a newbie so if ppl are shaking there heads right now at my new discovery understand.
