Honda GX-240 engine rebuild.Complete engine rebuild step by step and easy installation for you guys to do it yourself DIY.
A Honda generator that i completely rebuilt after being started up with no oil in the sump (running at 3000rpm). The piston and rings was seized to the cylinder the con rod was
seized to the crank, not even a mallet could move the piston, the proccess of all these are same you can easily rebilud your engine By watching this video.This is the Honda GX240
this will be the same for all the Honda gx series engine.
Use this as a guide for the honda gx160,gx120,gx200,gx270 models.
Here is a list of the most commonly replaced parts associated with each generator symptom:
Engine leaks gas: carburetor gasket, float bowl gasket, fuel tank, fuel line, carburetor, fuel shut-off
Engine won't start: spark plug, carburetor, ignition coil, recoil starter, start switch, safety switch, on-of switch, flywheel key
Generator stops after a few seconds: Fuel cap, carburetor
Engine runs poorly: Carburetor, carburetor repair kit, spark plug, fuel filter

In the end, after emptying the engine oil and turning the engine upside down and shaking, the float in my oil alert started working again, so i didn't have to change it. But you can buy them from eBay, although take care that you get the right one as there is an old and a new type eg www.ebay.co.uk/itm/192194840843?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Buenas noches, si es tan amable en ayudarme o informar porque mi motor Honda GX240 4tiempos estaba trabajando y de repente se apagó y revisando se encuentra libre el arranqué donde calza el yoyo, el yoyo está bueno, es donde calza el yoyo que se liberó y no tranca para dar el arranque está liberado da vuelta libremente, con su experiencia que será la falla.

Never put sealant with gasket. I am sure this engine must have oil leakages. When sealant hardens, it destroys the gasket.

What kinda glue/ liquid did you use when putting the gasket on?

I would assume its an RTV gasket maker , it just happens to be a clear version of it. You can find RTV gasket makers are your local autoparts store. Just make sure to read the information on the RTV package since some are for general purpose and not meant to be used on an engine. I would also recommend looking at the manufacturers instructions on adding gaskets. I just don't find it a good idea to use both an RTV gasket maker and a gasket as well (if i was feeling lazy, I would just only use the gasket maker) .

Blue or white smoke coming from your engine usually indicates burning oil, ensure that the engine is running at the correct oil capacity.For example your generator's engine needs 1Liter oil and you pour out more than 1 liter.Check your engine's oil capacity and also clean the carburetor if there some oil, it will be fix. Thanks!

Hi brother. My petrol generator starts then dies after few seconds. I can accelerate but will die. There is a lot of black smoke too. When I am starting it makes noises like it is shooting (I think it calls backfire). I have got the Inlet & outlet valves changed. Can you help to give me some light to find out what could be?
