Nice work and a lot of good info here!! I would just recommend a few things to people seeing this. Double check your ring gap in the cylinders first. NEVER reuse the old lifter trays! It's what causes many failures as it crack or loosens and lifter has too much play or spins destroying lifter and cam. 24:08 lifter is wobbling (should be TIGHT fit). Prime the new oil pump. There is a hole on the side of block to fill it with oil once installed and/or crank motor with ignition off to get pressure before starting. Hope it is still running good for ya. I have a 08 G35 too and these motors are waaay easier like you saw for yourself! Good job on a budget build!

Only complaint, you said that you’re not a mechanic. Ummmmm, you just rebuilt and installed an LS engine into a truck… and it runs perfectly! Even though you are not certified, I’d say you’ve just became a master mechanic with this visual display, man! Looking good down there . Keep up the good work Aaron!

@@austinbrown924 Wow! I might need to get an LS and try it out. I watched Aaron breakdown and build a VQ 35 engine. Troubleshooting and correcting until it was turbo'ed and lovely! It was a lot of work compared to the LS. 2 days? Really? That truck will now run forever. I hear what you are saying though. In that little time, Aaron could of added some more upgrades to really get that hokey pokey action with the HD. LOL but its good to haul and tow now for about 20 more years.

Few things, most minor, one serious. You should be using lubricant for honing. ** VERY BAD ** All of the rings should be checked for end gap. Rings expand and if the ends touch, the ring as may happen if thr endine is overheated, the ring will be instantly destroyed and it may take the piston with it and could also badly score the cylinder.

🤔 so a harmonic balancer is used by evenly distributing weight to balance things,but you knocked what seemed to me to be a pretty substantial piece off of it therefore affecting the balance of the balancer itself. Would that not cause problems? If it is negligible then ok, send it. I’m looking into rebuilding an LM7 myself for the first time so I’m just curious.

In reference to the tick at the end. I saw somewhere that I need to put the pushrods back onto the lifters they came from. That ware on the rods has to match the lifter. I honestly don't think it matters THAT much but that could explain the tick.

The tick went away after it warmed up and never came back. I think it was just some debris in there. Changing the oil multiple times probably helped gather all the gunk and get it out. But I put new lifters to the old rods so just threw em' in!

@jimw6991
@jimw6991 8 ай бұрын
Don't use wd40 as honing oil .... for beginners deglaze your cylinder bore with ball style hone dipped in engine oil. Messy but works well. Wipe down with paper towel and wd40 is okay to verify progress. One thing this guy didn't discuss, proper cleaning of block and parts being reassembled is super critical. I world hot tank block first. Wash, rinse, machine, final wash rinse before assembly. Pro shops have massive machine they use kind of like a dishwasher for engines. I've seen many engines fail early due to improper cleanup during rebuild. Also this guy wasn't very generous with his assembly lube ... I like to be sure. Lube and oil on everything that slides or rotates, then prime pump and pressurize system before firing up. Why put all these new parts in only to damage them on a dry start?

@@timbebel4331Ball hones deglaze and leave a cross hatch. Hones with stones like in this video remove more metal but can easily create tapered cylinder bore. If your block is headed to real engine machine shop for hot tanking and cam bearing install why not let them line hone your mains, hone your cylinders straight and round. While you are there let them polish the crank and pick bearings to use. Then order pistons to fit your newly machined block. Now you will have something worth the effort or a rebuild.
