I love the limitations of 4-track recording! I'm the proud owner of a 1989 Tascam PortaTwo in 100% mint condition because it sat in a Hollywood Studio on a shelf as a spare unused for decades. Luckily I was able to pick it up and it now lives in my studio! Good stuff Landon, new subsciber here!

one idea would be to record from the PC to the four track then take those recorded tracks on tape and bounce them to track four (say if your doing a 6 track multi recording).

Hi,im cant sync my acoustic drum,electric guitar and Bass with my DAW click track when i dump my tape recorded track back to my DAW,Can i use SMPTE using MOTU midi express xt or MOTU micro express to align my Acoustic Drum or Electric guitar time exactly like my DAW time signature or click?

Hey! If you bounce the bottom 3 tracks to one, does it turn into mono? Id like to record stereo drums on for 2 tracks panned left and right, then bounce them into one and have room for more..does it work like that?

What do you mean by "recording silence"? Do you just mean listening to the tape play while record is on? Thank you for the video by the way, it's very informative. I've never recorded with a four track cassette before. I can't imagine not being able to punch in and correct mistakes as I much rather prefer doing that than re-recording a full song in whole especially with the kind of music I make (black/death metal with complicated composition structures that are usually pretty lengthy)

Can I run a distortion pedal through my guitar and into the input jack? If not how do I do this? How did you set up your effects?

How can I connect my amp? would I have to connect mic to machine and place mic on amp? same for natural drums?

I'd do record digital then record that track only to tape,I use adobe audition 1.5 for my 4 track I use a 1979 Teac 144. Nothing special (all it would need is 3 connections to my PC's line out,Line in,and the mic using RCA extenders,RCA dual link and RCA to 3.5mm stereo mini jack cables).
