for this video, I want to share that you are not alone if you've ever felt down after an interview rejection. I'll talk about how to reflect and take away from this experience to help your career moving forward. Overall, the tech job market has slowed down this year compared to the historically low unemployment rates of the past couple of years. If you've been asking "how to deal with rejection", "how to get over rejection from a job interview", then this video is for you.
yours,
christine・ᴗ・

🌸 ABOUT ME 🌸
Before I knew anything about digital marketing, I worked full time as an elementary school teacher. I was extremely burnt out and unhappy until I stumbled across this career. Currently, I am working a full time job as a digital marketing manager while also teaching students in my beginner digital marketing course. This field has changed my life and I made this channel to help guide those who are seeking a career and hope to be successful in doing so.

I just got fired from my internship at Acadium after almost completing 2 months. I put so much effort despite my full-time job and being unpaid for those hours.

thanks for the timely reply, christine! basically my question was. do you think its possible for me to get an entry level job with my current qualifications/ what should i expect as a salary if so. (i’ve been seeing lots of jobs on indeed in the range of 50k-70k) **im based out of new york looking for a remote job** as it stands: I am a Psych Major and Management Minor in undergrad (2023 graduate) - Relevant coursework: Psychological Statistics, Cross Cultural Psychology, Introduction Statistics for Analytics, Communication Literacy for Business, Statistical Decisions in Management I also have been using adobe products such as, premiere, after effects, and photoshop since 2011. (I also have experience with cinema 4d and sony vegas) I’m currently 75% through Google’s Digital Marketing course on coursera, I am curious if I should also do the Data Analytics course as well and learn python. as a project I’ve launched a website that I would like to try to grow throughout the summer and hopefully apply for jobs around September. Will my degree, video/photo editing experience, website, and the certifications be enough to land a job? Lastly, would I and or should I apply before attempting to learn Python and or Google Analytics? or would it be wiser to round out my resume first?

@@tahirzion So based on my own experience and based in LA, the first entry level position would mostly likely be around $30k - $40k. However, after 3-6 months experience it's definitely possible to get a $50k -$60k salary offer. With digital marketing positions (Google Ads), I did not have a degree related to business/economics/marketing and was still able to get a job. Also, coding experience such as Python or photo/film editing skills is not necessary. The most important step would be to gain experience in the field you are interested in through unpaid/paid internships, volunteering, or helping friends/family. Having real life experience and having that on your resume to talk about during interviews is very valuable. In addition, making a digital marketing portfolio would help you stand out from the other applicants. Do you know what niche in marketing you would like to pursue such as paid search, paid social, SEO, content marketing etc?

@@growwithchristine I was thinking SEO, Social Media or Content Marketing! I am surprised to hear python jsnt needed as I’ve seen many roles on indeed where they have said that having python or some coding experience is a big bonus, which is why I was thinking of learning it, as well because it may help out with the workflow! As far as my timeline then, do you think after i finish the Coursera Digital Marketing course, do you think I should do the Google Data Analytics course? also as far as the website i’ve launched, should I work on it for the next few months then look for internships or entry level work or should i do that after finishing the course?

@@tahirzion For SEO, mostly HTML and CSS is used. For Social Media, FB/Meta/Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat are the main tools. For Content Marketing, writing articles, creating videos, or podcasts would be important. I've encountered some roles that require coding experience, but never required. Feel free to learn coding to increase your hireability, but I would say there are more important skills that would increase your chances of getting hired for those positions. Yes, after finishing the marketing course, you should get your Google certifications and Data Analytics would be a great one to have. For the website, if you are more of an independent learner and able to find answers yourself I would launch it and do some SEO or Social Media marketing on it to learn the basics of how to get traffic to your site and how to optimize for conversions. If you prefer someone to guide you, I would try to look for an internship or volunteer work with the basics you learned from the Coursera course and certifications.

That's crazy. I never realized that. I know that I would rather go in the ring with Mike Tyson than go face rejection from 30 people knowing that there's a possibility that even after those rejections I might not get a yes. I would take a job doing sales. Even though I do know there's going to be a long time before I get good. But more times than not, you will get a sale after a while. Somebody is going to come in that store and it doesn't matter how bad you mess up that person will practically beg you to buy. Same with a job. I do know that if I'm decent and I hit all the places I can think of, after a while, even if I give up for a couple of days or week, the law of averages will turn up and there will be someone who will be begging to hire you even though every part of you is saying, I don't know what I'm doing, I'm new, I'm going to ask a million questions every day, and I don't think you should hire me. And still, you will get one company, the only one that matters, that will practically beg you to let them pay you and put up with you until you can do the job pretty good. That really is life Thanks again. Everything just keeps looking up. And these videos inspire me more as the days go by. Struggled for close to a year on linking my website and getting Google Ads to work. And with your advice and finding out that my neighbor makes websites for companies and said she would help me with bugs or problems when they arise. All I can offer anyone stuck but still wanting to pursue this is just not to give up. You might get stuck on something. Google it. KZfaq it. Try to find a book. Ask somebody. And if that don't work, take a break, however long that is, and start over. As many times as it takes you. But, sooner or later you will see what is missing or someone will tell you. Just don't give up because there's soo much to gain. I'm close to finishing the course, about 5 lessons before I get to the resume and interview skills, and I'm pretty sure I won't ever have to go back to working in a kitchen at a restaurant again. No more sweating like a long-tailed dog in a room full of rockers for a job I don't enjoy anymore. Keep pushing

Honestly, it's usually, if I don't go try to get a new better job I got to go back to insert horrible job with people that you have stopped looking favorably upon them and tuck my tail, waste another day, look around at work and know that I am no doubt getting paid less than someone who talks more than me and does half as much as I do. And, that pretty much works as powerful as someone who has taken as much caffeine as a person can injest without overdosing. Yeah, that works every time
