In this video I'll show you how easy it is to regulate a Vostok watch movement. Making your Vostok more accurate is super easy.

Very well explained thank you. I would also recommend to wait for approximately 4 weeks before regulating a brand new automatic, sometimes the movement needs this period to 'settle down.' My new Amfibia went from gaining 3 minutes per day which settled to 1 minute per day after a month.

Thank you so much for this video! I bought a demagnetizer thinking that was why my watch was running about 5 minutes fast a day, but to no avail it didn't fix the issue. Thanks for posting! Just regulated my Amphibia and Komandirskie while they were on a timegrapher. Man you ain't kidding, that little bar will jump at the slightest touch! Both look much better, on the timegrapher (at least in the dial down position), with the Amphibia going from -72 to +11 and the Komandirskie from +19 to +4. Will see how they do in the real world on my wrist.

Very helpful. For instant gratification in terms of measuring the accuracy, a timegrapher is really cool to use, though it will cost a little more than a Vostok. I just got mine down to +2/day. Very delicate, but not that hard.

Great video, only one problem though, you omitted the biggest issue with Vostok watches. It should be compulsory when doing video’s on these watches to warn against Vostok addiction. There are so many models, some quite unique and mostly very reasonably priced, that collecting them is a major issue. I bought a plain Amphibia, compass bezel, domed Acrylic and the fantastic flat sealing caseback. Then, soon after, a Komandirskie with an internal bezel. And in the post, there’s a Vostok Scuba on its way from the factory direct, cheaper than Meranom. Help!

@@PuppyH8er2 i just got my vostock amphibia and really happy with it. it came with a black rubber band which looks a bit chincy but feels nice on the wrist. i am going to change it out to a light weight stainless bracelet band. upon seeing the inside of your watch i was a bit surprised that the parts looked had a bit of crude finish look to them but i guess it doesn't matter that much. i ordered mine just before the war broke out and i was afraid i wouldn't get it with all the restrictions going on but when it finally came the envelope was loaded with russian postal stamps which was cool. when i told my wife i had bought a russian watch she kinda freaked but she agrees it looks nice. i've had it a few days and i can't stop looking at it, it's that nice to me.

Hi Neal, Well, I've adjusted my Vostok Amphibia about 8 times now. Each time I made small (or so I thought) adjustments. The first 2 times, I waited 5 days between readjustment, and wore the watch every day. When I first got the watch (new) it was running about +60 seconds/day. So far I've not been happy with the results. In contrast, I made just 2 adjustments to my Seiko Alpinist and have it currently running at + 6 seconds/day which is well within its spec. I'll keep at it with the Vostok and see if I can achieve better than its specs, which are listed as -20/+60 sec/day. Note: I use a G-Shock synced to the Atomic clock for my reference.
@HeartofTexasArmory6 жыл бұрын
I'm positive you can get your Vostok to run within spec. I would try adjusting it again. You can just wait a hour or so between adjustments to speed up the process. Keep me informed.

I have an automatic Vostok Amphibia. I was very pleased, having used in swimming, diving etc. Indeed, once I wanted to check its toughness/hardness and I put it in a cup of water and put in freezer. A big block of ice wrapped my Amphibia. Then I let the ice to melt; the Vostok had stop working, probably because of the ice, but when I shake it, begun to work again! Amphibia survived this hard test! Another time, I opened it and apply some (little) silicone in its inner plastic black band, that there is behind its metallic back case, in order to waterproof the watch; I had seen this "hack" in a video in youtube and seemed good. And as I had opened the watch, I thought "Why not put a little WD40 inside, as a lubricant and rust repellent?" - it seemed good to me... and I indeed put a tiny spray of WD40. I applied a smooth cloth to absorve the excess oil (of WD40) - but I have put very little. Then I screw the back case in my Amphibia, and was ready for use - again. But what a (bad) surprise... my Amphibia now, was - and still is - running incredibly fast. In a day gains 2 or 3 hours. The ice experiment didn't destroyed my Amphibia but I think WD40 did "destroyed" it - and I don't know how can I fix this... • I tried to leave the screwed crown, opened, so that the WD40 that I had put inside, to dry out/evaporise, but nothing. It didn't succeed... • I opened it again and try to fix it by adjusting the regulating lever (the lever that is above the balance wheel), by rotating it as far it could go to minus (-) - [to extreme point of minus] - in a try to slow down my watch, to normality... I assembled it again, I tried it, but this also failed. My Amphibia, still runs like the superhero Flash. So... any idea to save it or I destroyed it permanently?

Another point worth making is not to make any adjustments to a brand new watch till you've worn it daily for at least a few weeks. The main issue with vostoks is positional variance. It’s a nightmare and really noticeable. I adjusted mine to +2 spd in dial up and dial down positions using a Timegrapher but when on wrist it gains about +30 spd. Apparently this is due to “flat spots” on the balance wheel, which you can’t do anything about. Hugely frustrating.

I'm glad I read this. I've just bought one and it was gaining a consistent +15 seconds per day for the first few days. One week later it's gaining +36 seconds per day, but if I place it on its side in one particular orientation it loses 9 seconds per day... Enormously frustrating with a bit of OCD thrown into the mix 😆 I need to just wear it daily for a while and see what it 'settles at' over time and I'll go from there.

@shane0114714 жыл бұрын
Without a Timegrapher to see what the hell you are doing LEAVE IT ALONE! Or take it to a watchmaker that has the proper tool to do the job. Doing it like this all you are doing is chasing your own tail.
@cedricduyongco4 жыл бұрын
There are some truth to this. A timegrapher would make regulation easier. I did this on my Vostok Komandirskie without any timegrapher and I was indeed chasing tails. I would over shoot and go too slow and overshoot again and go too fast. At that point I was tempted to buy a cheap timegrapher in AliExpress but decided against it. So I just continued adjusting until I finally got the hand of how small the nudge would be to make it move fast or slow by x number of seconds. With patience, my Komandirskie now runs +2 sec/day on wrist and even lower on winder. That's when I did my Vostok Amphibia 710 and this time got it after just a few tries. Not sure if I got lucky or I got experienced in how small a nudge is needed. I also got my Vostok Amphibia to within +2 seconds per day on wrist. Know first how fast/slow your watch is on wrist and on winder before you adjust it. Now I bought a new Amfibia Scuba and will let it settle for a few weeks and check how fast/slow it runs and may also do the regulation if needed. I check versus on wrist and on winder because I acknowledge that the Vostok has a wider positional deviation compared to my swiss watches (which I never even saw the need to regulate). Thus measuring how fast it is on wrist reflects the normal usage and on winder show more or less the average on different positions. I don't think it would be practical to set it across all positions, that would indeed be chasing tails. So basically my experience was it was frustrating in my first watch but was happy with the result. Then it was a fun experience on the second watch. I think that's the beauty of Vostoks and Seikos, the fun in being able to tinker with your watch and the satisfaction you get when you are able to make it perform or look (modding) the way you want it to.
@vaclav_fejt2 жыл бұрын
A tried what was showed in a video, didn't help, and the watchmaker said I had to have a timegrapher (with the three-position jig) and to remove the rotor before attempting to set it. Also, he said I messed up the "limp", because it ran in different speeds in different positions.
