I'm afraid I don't have that much experience. I couldn't even tell you which ecu was in those. Nowadays I'm older and wiser and I just pay an expert to do my mapping

With this tool I was able to fix my own half-flashed map with a complete one, from scratch. The car wouldn't start but MPPS recovered the bad flash. Very handy. The fail is on one of my other videos.

Just to make sure there's a minimum 12 volts in the battery. Sometimes a flash can fail because the voltage is unstable or too low.

You need the cable, the software for the cable, and some software to edit your map file once you have it copied off the ecu. If you have that you can remap it. I got an extra 19 horsepower out of my little 75bhp diesel - very noticeable :)

I do this for a living, but on open ECU's provided by the OEM. We shove an extra 10deg on the ignition timing no problem. It does make it noisy though!

Where did you get the tuning Maps to write on the ECU? How you add fuel? Advance timing? Etc...

I use VAGSuite because it's good and its free. There are other options like Trionics or WinOls. They're tricky to use though. MPPS just does reads and writes but seems safer than the Galettos.

Thanks for this fella. I think I'm brave enough to give it a go after watching this. To start with I'm just going to download the standard file from the car, just to check everything's working as it should be. Then I'll investigate remap options - anyone have any recommendations for non-VAG software?

Hello there, what software version of MPPS do you use v13.02 or v16? And what does "This program can be run 128 times before updating hardware" mean? What is going to happen after those 128 times of usage?

ARTAUD Franck MPPS can normally recover a failed write, but play it safe!

you changed ignition timing on a diesel? maybe you should slow down a little and understand what your doing. theres no ignition timing on a diesel, its pump injection timing. do you even have an egt set up/installed in the car?

minor0confusion also the timing if a turbo is in place should be retarded at full throttle, wouldn’t be advancing it unless N/A

Some french car ECUs will stay active for several minutes by effect of the Engine control relay.

I learned to do them from scratch. You can buy files off ebay but you'd have to be nuts to flash one to your car! Some of the tune files available are boredering-on-dangerous! What kind of car have you got?

About £50 for the OBD2 kit, already had the laptop though. The power supply was £30.

I'm probably going to buy all this gear tomorrow. Can you completely map everything yourself? You don't have to buy anything after you've bought the software and cables etc? And did you notice a difference after the remap? Cheers.

So... If I got it right, you can edit your ECU map by using MPPS? or do you need an aditional software to do that. (in this case MPPS is just for reading/writing it down to the ECU). If so, what kind of software do you use? And great video btw.. :)

Hi, I plugged in my mpps and when i click on ''ecu id'', it says ''waking up ecu'', and after a while ''no ecu find''. 12.7 v constant, and ignition on, engine off. This is about a BMW 318i 2.0l petrol, 05 reg. Am i doing something wrong? Tnx!

Wrong regarding powering on laptop "The MPPS tool requires a stable laptop computer with a good battery. For best results use windows XP and use a laptop with a fully charged battery. Contradictory to what some may say, we recommend you don’t attach your laptop's power supply during flashing as this can induce a ground loop which may crash the MPPS software"

Great video thanks. I have a question for you. When I try to use this program on my 2010 VW caddy tdi I have 5 options to choose from 1 is the 1.9 tdi bosch edc15 K-line. The other 4 are for 2.0 and 1.9 edc16u1 edc16u31 k-line and k-line can. These 4 are all for SDI not tdi. If I do a ecu ID the the 1.9 tdi bosch edc15 K-line does not work but the 1.9 Bosch SDI edc 16u1 K-line does. My car is a tdi is it ok to procede or should I try to find my engine in another model like a 2010 golf tdi or something? Any thoughts appreciated Thanks

Let me see if i understand! First you press READ to get the original map of ecu, right? After that you change the original map in vag edc suite, or another program! And after you change'd the map press WRITE? Sorry for bad english! Please answer!

He actually did that so the car batery maintain the 12 volt rate, if it goes lower than 10 volts the ecu memory chips will crash and you will lose your whole ecu Im not sure if this will come in handy because you commented that 5 years ago, but still

Nah you can turn it on straight away. Transferring the map itself takes about 3 mins so maybe that's it. MPPS shows you how long to wait step-by-step.

Hey I have mpps and I copy my map of my ecu and save it on my desktop and if I try to load it back its says is not the correct file type what program do you use for your maps and what do you save the map as. I have winOLS but I can't figure out how to use it

case one : you buy ecu from junkyard or get from another car with same type, same year, this ecu need reprogamming , ecu from another car will have different vin number is this tool can repgromming ecu from another car ?

I can get the ECU ID but once I try to read it sometimes 'works' and it stops Midway and gives me an error. What do I do? I have a 2001 tdi 1,9 L ALH motor. Thanks for the help

Want to upgrade my T5 1,9 TDI with AXC engine (86hp) to AXB engine (105hp). Only difference seems to be the mapping. Where can I get the original mapping to load with MPPS?

Thanks for the second video.. :) Just wondering if the s-mps will work on OBD1 systems? I have a modified 1976 CJ7 jeep with a 258 4.2L engine and GM TH400 3speed auto.. I installed a GM TBI from a 4.3L 1987-1991 chevy vehicle and the ecm pn#1227747 and chip #ASKA .. Could you recommend where I can get a flashable chip for this mod? Or is the chip from my ECM re-burnable? Also, any recommendations on the burning adapter and all of the parts I need to reburn my car's brain? Thanks again for the information. :) By the way, my cj7 originally DIDN'T have a ecm... And the distributor controls my timing.. Hope to have my new ECM to control timing and fuel.. :)

Hi great informative and inspiring video Would you be able to provide me with a link to where i could obtain an MPPS like yours wih the same version of software I've looked on ebay but i can only find 'cable versions' claiming to be that version and not the ally box type like yours, so im not sure if they would be as good as yours or not Just as a matter of interest, what is your opinion on that? Engine life and turbo will likely be reduced, but it'll be worth it. Just use better oil and service it more often.

How do you find where the hot start problem is in the map? i have the map downloaded but can't seem to find where to modify. 2006 Jetta TDi BRM Engine
