Recently our grandchildren have friends, who are always welcomed to our family fold. My husband has a better knack at reaching out more than I. He invited me to go to the store 2 days ago. One of these friends and his wife chose to drive about 300 miles to visit several days with family members. Because he is working on his degree, and lives neighbors to our grandson, while they both struggle to get their degrees; my husband invited me to go to Winco's and purchase several cases of basic foods for each of them. I was not aware of his intentions until we arrived at the store. But it gives me more reason to love him, because of his generous nature and to help those who can use a helping hand, as they stuggle to better their own lives.

@@NotMrDiego why does that cause you discomfort? There's always going to be dislikes on a video no matter the content, we don't all agree on everything. There's 2.4K likes and 14 dislikes, why even make an issue of it?

I have high-functioning autism and I've been in the back room my entire life. Having high-functioning autism is like living in a concrete room with dirty windows and a door with no handle on the inside. You can see people through the dirty window, but it is not clear and is indistinct; you can hear people through the door talking but it is muffled. When you have ASD, you are always thrown in the "too hard basket." I'm getting to be an older man now and being judged, ostracized, marginalized, and ignored is just the way my life goes. I watch these videos and I shake my head, wishing that someone had befriended me. I'm fortunate now because God sent an angel to me who is kind, patient, and understanding; she is now my wife. I don't write this out of wanting pity. I write this so that you know that there are so very, very many people in the back room through no fault of their own.

This hit me hard, I think about this all the time. I do this, I move on and forget people, forget to talk to them, listen to them, forget their names, and eventually forget to care for them and about them. I can’t begin to imagine how it would feel if Jesus or God made me feel disposable like this. I’ve written some names, and glued them on the wall, and I’m sure prayer will bring more names to my mind. Perhaps it will do the same for you, if you feel like me...

Inspired! My prayer is for each of us to be blessed by a humble spirit so we may see around us and be used by Our Heavenly Father to come to the aide of those in need. What a gift to stop and share a conversation with someone who we think is lonely, even if it is over a phone with a real voice and face to visit with. Send a small bouquet of flowers to someone to brighten their day or leave a food basket, gas card or gift card on someone's door when you can. I am always blessed with more than I need and can share with my fellow man. Amen Brother!

This video started my Sunday worship with a giant boost to the spirit. It is impressive that this man was led to make use of his free time when on business trips to find someone who needed his attention and service. I think all of us have times in our lives when we need the help of others. When that help comes from strangers that especially feels like divine direction and care to me.

Thank you for this inspiring message about remembering those in the "back room." I have a beautiful, talented, and kind teenage daughter who has suffered with chronic illness for over 10 years, and she has felt marginalized through no fault of her own. Her struggles have instilled in her a strong desire to help others who are suffering and alone, because she knows how it feels. It hurts that she has often felt overlooked and unimportant, and many times I've prayed for someone to reach out to her. But again, it makes us both want to look harder for those who need a hand up and offer it wherever we can. I love the reminder to ask daily, "Lord, who needs me today?"

Having been a caregiver for a disabled spouse for 15 years, and now being a divorced/ no kids mid-single w/ 'invisible' chronic health issues in a family ward-- and one where ppl are always moving in and out-- i've been 'in the back room' most of my adult life. I do what i can to do things others, but it's not always easy with my health issues. i thought/ hoped that with Covid, more ppl in my ward would try to check on us singles-- like my ministering Elders-- but sadly, with the exception of just a few people, it hasn't happened. i had to message my Ministering Elders several times, i finally did hear back from one of them, only to be assigned a new Elder, Same thing once i was assigned to the new person. And one of them, i messaged several times, and never heard from -- except the time they spoke in sacrament and i afterwards finally was able to introduce myself to them. That was only two months ago, and guess what, i just found out yet again that i have been re- assigned to another ministering Elder. If it weren't for my Ministering Sister, my Bishop, and one other ward member, all whom i had personally told what's been going on with me, i would not have had a Christmas. oh, and in mid sept i got sick for 2 weeks, then got depression so bad i couldn't go back to work, and when i went back to work in january i found i had lost my job. I've been dealing with this for over 5 months now, but yet only a few ppl in my ward have a clue-- i still 'look normal' so of course i must be doing fine, right? -- gotta love being one of the 'ppl in the back room'-- so yeah.... I learned the hard way back in my caregiver days not to put my faith in people.

The first commandment Love God with all heart was Jesus talking about himself or The Father who sent him? John 8:50 But I AM NOT seeking glory for MYSELF, there is One who is seeking and judging. 51 Most truly I say to you, if anyone observes my word, he will never see death at all. 54 Jesus answered: “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, the one who you say is your God.

That is what the power of repentance is for. We are human and God knows that we will make mistakes... One of the apostles asked the same question. Lord how often are we to forgive a man his sins and the Lord replied seven times 70. We have free will to learn from our mistakes and not to repeat them or grow from them, or to keep doing the same... In the end we will all have to answer for the choices we have made weathered they be good or evil.
