This is my Grandpa Larry Jensen... it’s beautiful seeing others appreciate him as much as I do. He has the biggest heart of any man I’ve ever known. I feel so honored to be named after him. James Larry Kirkham. Seeing all these kind comments brought me to tears.

I was so inspired today by a short, simple video titled "Be A Mr. Jensen". I'm sure he has encouraged many others! Has anyone approached your grandfather about doing a book, documentary...or even a movie?

This is the same Mr. Jensen that gave me hope! I struggled with Math Drills and felt I was stupid, then Mr. Jensen gave me an opportunity to steady Math on my own away from distraction and not have to do the Math Drills. Through this, I whizzed through the Math curriculum and discovered I liked math and I was smart. This moment has affected my whole life and is one of the moments that inspired me to go back to college after I had all my kids and earn a teaching degree in Elementary Education. THANK YOU, Mr. Jensen!! You are an inspiration as a human being and as a teacher! I hope I will be able to touch lives as you did!

Oh, good! I panicked for a second that you were gonna say that Mr. Jensen saw that you didn't like Math Drills and gave you a set of drumsticks, too. Turns out that was his answer to everything! ;'D

I had two hyper active boy in Sunday School primary class. They would like to crawl under the table, under the chairs, even climb up the windows. I put a limit at the windows. I told them they can wiggle all they want , but must listen to the lesson. I will tell them the Lesson stories they needed to learn. They wiggle to their heart’s content. I asked the questions and they knew all the answers. Since I had the flexibility I allowed them and they were learning. That’s what counts. Unconventional yes, but they were learning the gospel. That was more important to me then keeping them quiet.

I had major issues not keeping still during my childhood. My Father who was a guitarist, when I was a small child showed me a quarter beat on the kitchen table. They didn't have much money, but they bought me a drum set when I was 15. Over the next 32 years, drums have been so therapeutic to me. Clint's story is so important to me too.

I love this. A friend of mine saw me tapping on things a lot as a 21 year old, and sold me his original drum set at a great price. He showed me how to set up the kit and how to hold the sticks. Then I taught myself how to play, just with the music in my head. I played out the sounds more slowly, until I could separate the different syncopations, and bring it up to speed. I did that over and over with different arrangements, until I had quite a repertoire. Then at that point I could just initiate whatever I wanted. Now I can play spontaneously and impromptu, having a sense for music that allows me to do so this way. I'm now 44 and I still love playing!

Thank you for your uplifting and inspiring message, and for sharing how this moment affected your life in such a positive way. It should give all of us pause to think of how we use words and how we can positively influence others, even those who are thought of as being "problem children." Thank the Lord for people like Mr. Jensen.

This is exactly how all should behave. Instead of fault-finding, but rather exemplify the attributes of the Savior. I try to do exactly as the teacher because I know what it feels like to be mistreated for the simplest thing or for what others believe I did wrong. Kudos to those who act like Clint’s former teacher. Beautiful story.
