How To Remove 2022 WRX Flares + Widebody?

Coming from a collision repair tech point of view. Do not mess with the pinchweld on the rear quarter panel. If you get into an accident and you get hit on the rear quarter panel it can rip off or not provide any structural integrity at all and crumple in a manner in which it was not intended. People can still do as they please but just my professional opinion leave it alone!! You don’t want your car going to a litigation shop if you do structural mods just keep that in mind

I think someone should make fender flares that go on like the factory pieces. Maybe an inch wider and painted. That would look killer!

Great video, very simple which is great because we all want to do something about those flares. No way in heck Im cutting into a 30k plus car…what I want is a wide body kit that works with what is already there. Color matched or gloss black like the concept….make it happen lol

Personally I'm going to move the reflector out of the rear Arch and utilize that cut out that leads through the inside of the bumper cavity out The back vent

I was hoping there was just smooth sheet metal under there, because frankly those things are pretty ugly. Maybe you could get them warped to match the body?

Unfortunately since they're textured plastic, they are difficult to wrap. Painting is the better option, but definitely more permanent.

Good to know, I thought the pice that connected to the bumper are unrecoverable( part of the unpainted bumper like most car does).👍

Is the material of the trim OK in regards to possibly wrapping them, as opposed to painting? Do you recall what type of plastic the trim is? It's on the back.What wheels are on it?

Somebody in Japan already wrapped the plastic fenders and it looked ok.

Would not recommend wrapping the trim. Has a very distinct texture and if you wrap them you will see it through the wrap and it will probably look funny some people have sanded them smooth and painted them though and that looks pretty good. The wheels are Cosmis XT206R Flow Formed 20×9 +35

Would love to see a 20mm wider version of the black fenders. I’m their current front they sit pretty much flush with the metal fender.

they dont even need to go wider really, just reshape them to a normal curved shape instead of the box flare like it is now.

Crumple zones are designed and built into the frame of the vehicle. Removing or altering the thin outer body panels doesn't compromise the crumple zones.
