Just thought I'd share the fastest way that I've found to remove the 4l60e transmission pump since I accidentally destroyed mine and had to replace it.

WARNING Before doing this you have to remove the pan, the convertor lock solenoid, the filter and the pump tube. Found out the hard way, guess I'll be trying to find a new solenoid, tube and possibly a pump.

I see video is few years ago, but if your looking, some Torque Converters on 4L60E are difficult to get into the pump "tabs" or some say "Ears" mine was extremely difficult I ended up after marking Converter slots with pump tabs with paint pen, using considerably Hard force (Pushing) in) while lifting slightly bottom of Converter ad I slightly moved Converter side to side. Converters will also come out of the pump just enough to lose contact with pump TABs, as Your Installing transmission! Use a Bolt, Box Wrench and Nut to Hold Converter IN, u can remove it just before pushing Tranny into Flywheel!

I just did the same thing and I'm glad I found your video. Did it affect the torque converter too or was it ok?

Awesome advice. Thank you SO much! Do you have the part number for the puller? I can't find one among the AutoZone or O'Reilly tool rental selections. Thanks

The next time I install one, I'll definitely film it (I'm replying from my other youtube account). I had to use some ls1 water pump bolts to encourage it to settle back in far enough for the stock bolts to take over, but it sealed up with no trouble. Since I didn't have the special torx plus bit at the time, the pump went back in with the bellhousing still in place. Still going strong.

Not knowing that was probably another reason that I ended up ruining my pump:).
