Dude, don't take this the wrong way, but I love you right now! Its over 90 degrees, and I only have so much time before my patience runs out. I knew there was a logic behind it, but for some reason, I couldn't make it all the way there. Turn in the direction of the fan! Yes! Brilliant!

Nice. Let me add that if you don't have a Freaking Giant Pipe Wrench, you can use a 10mm bolt (one from that pulley the fan is on) and put in the hole next to it, to lock it against the water pump that is behind it. Then you can take the fan/clutch off as he shows later.
@brandonporter79344 жыл бұрын
Does it matter what size 10mm bolt to use? I've been racking my brain on how to get mine off since I have to replace my fan shroud. I've tried the wrench on the idle puller but the belt just turns.

How did you remove the shroud over the fan blade? I'm having trouble getting the radiator out of my Xterra bc the shroud is in the way (already took out the condenser fan), and I can't wrestle it outta there, so it's looking like the main fan is gonna have to come off, but trying to break and loosed those four little 10mm nuts in that tiny amount of space with a tiny little box end wrench is pissing me off and wasting time lol I like your alternative to get the fan off, but that can only work without the shroud in the way... What? Most Americanized pulley bolts will loosen in the opposite direction of the rotation of its pulley reason is so it won't tighten as it's rotating and not become a more of a problem removing it's mounting bolts

Everybody is missing something here, if the nut has notch on it it is a reverse thread, the newer Hemi's are reverse thread so you turn the nut clockwise to remove the fan, if doesn"t have a notch it is normal thread and you remove the fan counter clockwise. look at the video of the newer Hemi"s VS older Hemi"s.
