The reason this video is only a removal tutorial is because they probably never got it back in properly. It is a task seemingly only possible with the help of Ant Man. I got mine back in miraculously using a long narrow tool to “guide” the j-shaped a-pillar hook into the slot by looking through the windshield from the outside with the driver's door open. It literally took blood, sweat and tears to get it back in properly because my OCD would not tolerate the hideous gap. I think there is a blood stain on my a-pillar to remind me of this job I would only wish upon my worst enemy...

This happened to me but with the stupid aluminum gas pedal insert, wasn't staying on right.. one of the metal edges went about 0.25" into my finger, didn't even know until I saw fresh blood dripping

Advice to put this piece back perfectly: When roughly in position, get your fingers though the gaps and poke the 3 plastic nubs in an upwards position (they're very loose and will fall back down with a slight knock so be gentle) once theyre facing upwards, get out the car and look through the window though the gap to ensure all 3 of them are directly infront of the holes they go in to, once they're in position, give the piece a firm tap with the bottom of your fist all along the length of it, screw it in and you're done. I'd recommend having the negative battery terminal disconnected for 15 minutes before hammer fisting this though if you have air bags.

If like me, the fabric on yours is glued to the windshield, you'll also have to use a craft knife or scalpel to cut it loose. I do not recommend using a chisel, like I did! After reassembly, the ragged edge can be tucked back into the channel against the windshield, so you can hardly tell the difference.

Appreciate the video but ... the MK6 2015 Jetta TDI SEL doesn't have an airbag badge on the a-pillars.

Probably because there is no bolt, you just have to remove it from the clips.

Just clean it from the top around the sunroof frame from the outside if it's similar to Volkswagens. I find the drain hole and flush it with soapy water every few car washes. If it's clogged you can use some wire, but don't pierce the rubbery tubing. Preventing it from getting dirty is easier than taking off pillars to access it once it's clogged. Sorry, I only have a VW, but I've noticed they share many of the same parts.

Just remove the negative battery connector, it's for safety because the airbag is under there.

Yea airbags are nasty... 100% don't rist that going off with your face and probably a screwdriver 6"away 😂

Same, I also cannot get it back in properly. The bottom clip doesnt go into the correct hole and bends away. It still fits but theres a big gap between the pillar panel and the dash. Any help would be appreciated

@@theobserwatorz88 I have yet to fix mine. I put them back on but couldnr get the tab in properly. Can't really tell besides the fact that the air vents don't work. I'm probably going to just take mine to the dealer

I could get mine on, without the retaining clips in place, but I'm sure those clips serve a purpose, and the airbag is under there, so I don't want that messed up

Same here, I replaced the headliner. It's easy to remove but nearly impossible to reinstall due to have to attach those retaining clips blindly (somehow). I already lost a couple in the dash panel and some are bent.

Because you are working near to an airbag, you have to make sure that the airbag will not be detonated. So, for that, you need to disconnect the battery.

I’ve been digging for a while and haven’t found a way to put it back in perfectly but the way I have it now is about as close as I’m gonna get. Start with the front end for sure and just work it in as close as you can. Once you have the screw holes lined up screw it in and call it good

Installation is proving to be much more difficult than removal, and now my battery is disconnected since the airbags are exposed, so I can't drive my car until I get it back on
