How to remove a stubborn tubeless tire

Bead retention ridges are a must-have feature on tubeless-ready wheels. Maybe even tube-only wheels. They make sure that your tire doesn't fly off in the event of a puncture. But they also make it REALLY hard to take the tire off. Here's a good technique that makes it easier (but not easy) to take off a stubborn tubeless tire.
For the algorithm: road bike, TLR, tubeless, stuck tire, remove tubeless bike tire, tight tire, tire bead stuck, locked, can't remove tubeless tire, bead shelf

Are you unable to get the lever in there? Find something thinner to put in, like a spoon handle. Make sure the lever you insert goes all the way down to the rim. Also, you're not limited to only using one lever. You can set up multiple levers in a row, and that should definitely work.

pliers, be careful to protect the rim (I grab a piace of cloth first THEN grab the tyre)

@@oldmansaurabh4392my tire beads are too thick (Schwalbe pro one TLE) so tire levers could be placed in between tires and the hook part of the rims (Reserve 52/63)

@@Dimashoey I tried all ways yesterday. I pushed too strongly that a blister appeared on my thumb but could not remove the tyre. It has not been opened so long. The sealant is totally dry and I still put the wheel on the floor! I failed! 🙂 Using a knife may damage the tyre, rim and perhaps my hands, too! 🙂

Another way I found to be very easy is, wear a sturdy shoe and step on the sidewall, beware to do this on a soft surfac and then lift the rim up, this should also loosen the tire

Does this work for road? I tried this technique, but with fragile deep carbon rims and a narrow tire on a wide rim, IMO you're more likely to crack a rim than get the tire off.

@@oldmansaurabh4392 also with road tyres there is not enough rubber to be grabbed down with the shoe

congrats nice hint, finally a video that point out the problem! Me had tried everything and always ended-up using pliers, it is 100% due to the rim, having an hump in the inner channel that "trap" the tyre bead. Mine were Mavic Carbon PRIOR to my2021 models when they realize and removed the inner hump! Unfortunately can't try your trick but I bet works because is the smart seen so far, personally got rid of that fucking rims and problem solved (Shimano Ultegra R8170 if you want to know)

great vid. When is the bike industry gonna stop pushing tubeless tires on road tires?! Maybe it's convenient for professional mechanics but tubeless tire maintenance at home is a horror show from start to end.

Were you able to get the tire lever (or something thinner like a spoon handle) all the way in? It should touch the base of the rim

@@oldmansaurabh4392 The tire lever is not workable. There is no just a little space for me to put anything in. Maybe a knife is a suitable but it is so dangerous while we use force and a sharp thing beside. So I put it there and one or 2 weeks later, I took it to the bike shop. There a staff use his hands and the tire was loose that we can open it. Maybe the time of flat made tire easier to open. Thanks for your consideration! Take good care!

If the tire is fused on, maybe next time, try hot water...? Hopefully it doesn't happen again. Also, make sure you use wide TL tape that goes all the way to the sides of the rims. You don't want rubber touching carbon, ideally.
