Tips for newcomers: 1. If you can't find the top two access holes to release the tabs, it's because it's already been recalled and they installed the new shroud so the two holes are on the backside of the top of the wheel and the holes are VERY tiny. Use your pinky and slide it around the back to find the holes. 2. If one of your connectors doesn't fit into the back of the new clock spring, it may be because the mold for the female pin slots is slightly off so you will have to put the connector in at a sharp angle (classic 3rd party crap manufacturing).

I watched this video as a precursor to removal of the dash. I will be replacing the evaporator and heat cores in the next week. This was the one area where in most videos I watched, could be buggered up because of the clock spring. I have a manual 2010 jeep wrangler jk and will be disassembling the center console first. Then the steering column. Then, slowly, the dash. I will be taking the advice of several others, who did not film their progress, and placing every bolt in a bag of like bolts with clear labeling on what / where they came from. Once disassembled I will post a video of replacing the heater core and then the evaporator core. I will be taking my sweet time with this as the estimates to do this range from $2500 on up and the parts are only around $250. I have all the tools and would prefer to save 90% on this. What I've learned, in order to make the experience as enjoyable as possible, is there IS NO RUSH. As soon as you start to rush the job becomes a pain in the backside. There are no good videos of this procedure in it's entirety so when I have it disassembled I will show the reassembly and discuss any hickups I ran into moving through the disassembly.

Did everyone need to use a steering wheel puller? Or do the wheels normally just pull off?

Can you tell me what tool you used exactly to remove the column pieces and how exactly you removed the airbag? These are the most challenging parts of the job to me and not one video shows how to do these parts. Obviously I am not mechanically inclined.

Just saw this and really appreciate the thorough explanation. If the center bolt holding the steering wheel is loose will that cause movement in the wheel while parked? My steering wheel can be moved about an inch side to side with no resistance whatsoever while in park with the jeep off. While driving, the jeep drives straight, but its like the wheel isnt tight. My clockspring was replaced and I started having issues a short while after. Thanks ahead of time if you see this and respond.

GET YOUR DEALER TO DO IT FOR FREE. There is a recall on this. Check the two NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V288000 and 13V176000. My dealership was going to charge me $1600+ for a new airbag on my 2011 Jeep Wrangler. I had to ask 3 different advisors to have the "technician" check the clockspring first. They finally checked and replaced the clockspring under the recall with no cost to me.

The airbag on my 2011 is held in by two 10mm bolts.

My cruise stopped working weeks ago. Now all at once, my wipers are stuck on, signals don’t work, brights don’t work. Is there any possibility this is NOT a the clock spring? I plan to check for loose connections today, but don’t want to pay the big money for a clock spring if it could be something else…jeep says mine has already been replaced in 2018

Took my 08 in for the recall on the airbag and I believe they did the clock spring too. However after I got it back my horn wasn’t working. Took it back and they said it works fine when they hit lock on the FOB, I went and hit the horn button and it didn’t work and the service guy said “oh that” and it wasn’t from their work but if I wanted to pay $400 they would fix an issue with wiring in the steering column. Where is the horn wiring after it exits the clock spring?

i just replaced my clock spring and the part i bought was missing one of the inputs. we had no choice but to install it for now but now my esp and traction lights are on. could this be because of the input or is my steering wheel alignment off ???

Can I buy a clock spring from the dealer with the green board inside got one from Amazon and it did't have it so I took it out of the old one installed it on the Jeep and the airbag light is still on but the yellow lock tab fell out in shipping so I thing it is off
