I've always been a little puzzled by the whole tool-truck thing. I once wanted to purchase a Snap-On product, and contacted an acquaintance, who was a professional mechanic, working at a large dealership, to ask if I could buy the product, when the truck stopped at his workplace. I'm not a mechanic, just a guy who works on his own cars from time to time. Got the contact info for the Snap-On guy, and left repeated messages. Never a call back. After asking three times, and my mechanic friend also asking him to call me, me offering to meet him wherever he wanted, whenever he wanted, no response, I gave up and just bought a competitor brand tool. Strange, I thought. It was as if my money wasn't good, or it was too much trouble to even call me back. Are tool trucks forbidden to sell to the general public? Just curious.

Tips for newcomers: 1. If you can't find the top two access holes to release the tabs, it's because it's already been recalled and they installed the new shroud so the two holes are on the backside of the top of the wheel and the holes are VERY tiny. Use your pinky and slide it around the back to find the holes. 2. If one of your connectors doesn't fit into the back of the new clock spring, it may be because the mold for the female pin slots is slightly off so you will have to put the connector in at a sharp angle (classic 3rd party crap manufacturing).

GET YOUR DEALER TO DO IT FOR FREE. There is a recall on this. Check the two NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V288000 and 13V176000. My dealership was going to charge me $1600+ for a new airbag on my 2011 Jeep Wrangler. I had to ask 3 different advisors to have the "technician" check the clockspring first. They finally checked and replaced the clockspring under the recall with no cost to me.

What you use to pull steering wheel off? A puller
@ChrisMYouTube
@ChrisMYouTube 3 ай бұрын
I rarely ever use a puller. Usually use the palm of hand and beat on the back of the steering wheel. Then grab in different spots with both hands and rock back and forth. It will come off this way. It does not hurt the steering wheel. I have done many of steering wheels that way. Just need to be mindful of when pulling the wheel it does not pull the wiring with it.

I buy snap on cheap . Ask them if they sell their overstock?? They have a tool payment lol 😂. I will buy 15 screwdriver sets for $120 ea. I will sell the $300 sets for $200 cash on eBay . More you buy cheaper you get it . Buy large quantities. Most of my snap on tools cost me about nothing . You guys are all stupid I can get snap on about as cheap as harbor freight lol 😂

I've got 3 broken picks, 1 broken 1/2 ratchet and 1 broken 1/4 deep socket from snap on, 2 dealers and 10 years later it's all still broken. I don't see the point in buying snap on if there is no warranty. I buy Halfords Advanced, Tekton, Capri, Gearwrench and a few others now and I've never had any problems with getting tools replaced. Plus it's always a quarter of the price, so glad I never got a snap on toolbox for thousands

So basically, 66.6% of Snap-on tool representatives SUCK! It's not even 50-50 according to your experience! Those are not good odds. The fact that the company representing the truck said you weren't in their system when you are obviously a customer, and you obviously have a genuine snap-on tool in your hand won't make it right... basically means you are completely completely justified in putting them on blast right here on this platform for the world to see! Folks will try to make you look anti-American because 33.4% of good Americans Working on one of the very few snap-on trucks, will lose their jobs because you would rather shop at HarborFreight and purchase good quality Chinese tools from them rather than buying Good quality, Chinese tools from snap-on! But don't let anyone shame you! 100% of the people At Harbor freight swaps my lifetime guaranteed tools out without a receipt and without any fuss whatsoever! 100% of the time!!! so all of those American employees gave me 0% shit along with 100% of the corporate executives at Harbor freight! Where with snap-on tools 100% of the American employees in corporate told you to kick rocks when you tried to return your broken Chinese shit! So that leaves only the 33.4% of the very few Americans in a snap on truck compared to all of the Americans Working in a HarborFreight and I'm sure some of those Americans are also in corporate! Are you really supporting more quality Americans with snap-on than choosing to go to HarborFreight?!? Hell no! Let the Americans with the best quality win, even if you happen to return tools 3 more times over the course of two years! And that's if you're buying their cheaper shit! Sorry, not sorry! Everything is a rich man's trick! Spend all that money you're saving on your family and get better service at work! it sure does seem like you're one of those Americans providing quality service and therefore deserve to be treated with the same respect! Even if you want to go in debt if Matco is treating you better and you prefer them over HF, by all means do what's best for you, but Strap-On deserves this! And you have every right to sh*t on them. There is this culture now where corporations can just crap all over us and we're supposed to just sit back and watch while they rest on their loins while raking in trash bags, full of cash that you busted your ass for! The least you deserve is a little bit of respect! You're the reason they are so rich! There is no way in hell we should all be OK that they're gonna start treating us like peasants when we're the ones fueling their lifestyle. Rant over! But I mean this from the very bottom of my heart. Enough is enough. P.S. Do some critical thinking with me... it's all corporate bullshit, right? I'm sure we can all agree on that. If a corporation is allowing the employees to "just swap tools on the fly", without a receipt, is it safe to say these corporations are finding out how these tools are breaking; and fixing the problem? It's not going to be profitable if they are constantly replacing physical tools that they are selling you on the cheap, if they keep breaking over and over... The 2nd "cheap" (low HF standard) set of aviation pliers (with a lifetime warranty) I got, after a no fuss swap, have been so much better... think about it. If snap-on isn't having to honor their warranty, then there's NO consequences for shitty manufacturing, which means there's no need to pump money into the manufacturing process! Think about that! Better start scooping up those quality tools while they're still affordable! 😅

The reason for buying expensive Snap-on and Matco tools was that you could depend on the tools, _knowing_ they weren't going to break and cause you to bust your knuckles. That confidence just isn't there anymore.

Matco. Matco makes the best tool boxes money can buy. However, their hand-tool quality has gone down the toilet since they started having their hand tools made in Taiwan. Matco's hand tools now are about the same quality as Pittsburgh. And I just broke a Snap-on 11mm chrome deep socket the first time I used it. Screw these tool trucks.

Snap On aka Crap On is screwed in the head. I had $60,000 budgeted for their tools and when I called Snap On for a place to buy their tools they told me that since I wasn't a garage or work for one they wouldn't sell to me. This was a dead giveaway that bean counters run the company and I don't deal with those type of companies (Fluke has also went down this road). One day I saw a Snap On truck and bought a few of his tools (over $2,000- paid for immediately) and told him my experience. He was livid, but I had already outfitted my engineering firm with tools from a litany of other sources like Tekton, Gear Wrench, and yes even Harbor Freight (Pittsburgh and Icon). I have spent thousands less than originally budgeted and haven't really noticed any downside. Many of the aforementioned vendors will ship a replacement before they get my tool back (I send them a picture over the Internet). Since Harbor freight is almost everywhere and they have lifetime warranties on most of their tools, we have had no issues with them. In addition, Snap On has been years behind in their electric tools and Milwaukee has eaten their lunch. Milwaukee has been brushless for years and offers 5 yr warranties, wherein Snap On isn't even close. It seems that Snap On is just brain dead!

Being buying Snap-On for 20 years. Warranties have never being a problem in any of my 2 dealers. I will mention that i treat my tools with much respect. I see what some other technicians do and cause to their tools and putting myself in the truck guy shoes i will also be concerned. Also we must understand that warranties will create expenses on the tool truck, buying the tool and then waiting for reimbursement from Snap-On. I have realized that my metal tools (SnapOn) had hold the value and even increased it in many cases during this time. Try that with some other brands! I also inherit tools from my grandfather that are discontinued and when they break i would get a newer modern version. If I had to begin again i will do exactly the same. Besides the point that when i have an SnapOn tool in my hands i just get the feeling of pride and it gets transfered to my jobs and projects. Also builds much respect with coworkers. One time i steeped out for lunch and a sales team member came and took a 13mm socket out of my cart to replace a battery. Transporter arrived, vehicle left and the socket travels in the Bimmer's trunk. I was upset and he said, no problem i buy you a replacement. I ordered it from my SnapOn guy and gave him the bill, he look at me and said: "i had no idea that it would cost that much" From that day on, he goes to the next guys' cart, not to my. My rank order was Snap-On, Mac and Craftsman professional line. Craftsman is pretty much done, Mac rebrands too much other tools, Matco & Cornwell never showed up at the shop, no experience with these last two.
