Cliff, you are a complete legend. I bought a 2008 987 back in November and have been building up my skills ever since with an eye toward installing some Bilstein B16 coilovers. In no small part due to watching your patient and excellently shot videos, i finally got the courage (and tools) to install them these past 3 days. Your videos saved me multiple times from the silly potentiometer on the left rear control arm which i could not figure out how to get off to removing the trim. There are other videos out there on how to do this job, but this 3 parter on the front, trim, and rear is the best. Just some notes on both the fronts and the backs. I had more luck completely removing the bolts for the control arm and toe control as well as loosening the diagonal cross piece to get the whole thing to drop. This meant i never had to navigate that tough outer bolt that hooks the control arm to the wheel carrier. Interestingly, during install, I had better luck bolting the strut into the tower first and then assembling everything before I pushed everything up over the hanging strut with my jack. Then finished with the torque downs. Your trick with the pipe wrench to remove the top of the strut was perfect. On the fronts, i was not successful getting the sway bar link to separate from the wheel carrier. No amount of hammering (even using your technique) would get it to move. What worked was a ball joint press and approaching from the back of the wheel carrier toward me. Wow, does it make a pop when it finally comes loose. A massive cheers and thank you to you! I cant tell you how many times i got stuck, fired up your video and said, "thank you, Cliff!"

thanks for the video, Cliff. this is an unusual subject so it is rarely seen. I've done similar work on other cars so this is good to know. what works really well is an impact wrench with a very long extension like 12 in. that way you're not messing with an awkward breaker bar with limited movement. what's great about an impact is you don't need to hold the axle bolt.

for a set of ratcheting open end wrenches, Gearwrench 85597 or the Craftsman 99901 are metric sets. I have the Craftsman set, its worked well for me

At ~49:50 you state torque the trailing arm to the lower control arm to 118 ft lbs. I tried to double check that value and I couldn’t find it. Seems high but could be correct. can you advise your source for the torque values? Great video thanks.

Never apply heat to steering or suspension, use a puller if you have to, or tap in the correct positions

Hey Cliff, at 19:54 , what do I do if I loosened that control arm bolt without marking that oscillating washer? Is there a way to get it back to alignment? Thanks in advance
