Excellent tutorial, spot on with torx sizing. Able to hoover out 6 years of dead insects above fly screen and blind as well as clean off debris and blackspot from between vents. Saved half an hours labour at workshop and a lot more satisfying. Many thanks for posting 👍🏼

Thanks for the info in this video, I needed to replace the black/grey slider handles on my skylight and found your post of great help, I had to destroy the original al broken slider to get it out but the new one clicked in very easily. Thanks again.

This one of the most supportive videos I have watched. Many thanks. I first found it a couple of years ago and followed your instructions. However, I have recently purchased a 22 year old Murvi (Ducato) and you can imagine my surprise when I realised I needed a Phillips screw driver to remove the sky light. The problem occurred when I attempted to separate the two pieces. No can do. No screws. Still I cleaned the outside.😉 once again thanks. 😎🍷🚍⚓️🇬🇧👍

Thank you I’ve just taken ours out, a good clean a put back. I had a slight problem lining up the grab bar screws but it’s now in place and looks like new. I’ve done this on our caravan site and others are asking me if I could clean theirs ( no chance) at 79 years of age they can do it themselves 😂. Once again thank you 👍

Great vlog thanks. I now have light in my shower. It must be first time it's been cleaned and it's a 2016 model. Easy job very well demonstrated. Hardest part was get ladders up outside to remove window.

Crikey, you've done it again! A couple of weeks ago I'm directed to your channel to see how to fix the 'mysterious flashing lights' in my Swift Challenger, and find a really simple explanation and fix (the part from Apuljack is arriving today). Yesterday I'm giving the caravan interior a good clean and notice how dirty the Heki roof-light in the bathroom is and can't think how to clean it. This morning I log into my KZfaq channel and up pops your video on cleaning Heki roof-lights! Brilliant, another simple and easy explanation and the next dry day I'll get it done. Well I'll send for the Torx keys first. Thanks again. KH

@@keithandmichele Hello, well I sent for the Torx keys (less expensive set) and they duly arrived. Today being the first dry day I set about removing the roof light. It came off with no problems. Next I took the T20 to separate the halves... Problem, the T20 key shaft is too short to get down to the screw! I guess that I will now have to purchase the Halford's more expensive set, so the cheap ones weren't so cheap after all! Anyway, I thought that I would let you know so that you can remove the link to the cheaper set so save anyone else making the same mistake. BTW am I correct in assuming that you have the Halford's set (before I send for them)? Keith

Oh Dear! Many years ago I can remember my teacher telling me to pay attention! I should have taken more notice of her. I just watched the video again and I was USING THE WRONG KEY!!! I I have just completed the job (and it was very easy thanks to your instructions) using the T25 and it all went swimmingly well. Thanks again for a great video. Hi Keith and Michele, what a useful video. We've got a 2014 Swift dealer special and although we try and keep it immaculate, I can never get the roof lights clean. I've tried allsorts from poaking in cloths to using a leaf blower - not successful! After 5 years, you can imagine how it looks... I'm going to try your method and look forward to soon being able to see the sky! BTW, I've watched a good number of your videos now and have just subscribed. I love your style and your natural enthusiasm for caravanning. The 'theft' was obviously an awful experience but it's lovely that you've made it into such a positive. Looking forward to more videos. Another very informative video, a job for this weekend methinks. I notice you don't have a blind on the bathroom roof light. I fitted one for less than £20, it made the bathroom and bedroom much darker in the morning enabling a holiday lie in. Let me know if you'd like more information. All the best Tony and Lynne

I concur with the T10 for the handle screws as I have just removed it but can you confirm the T25 or other for the screws fixing the handles to the dome. What ever it is I will need to buy but it appears much smaller than T25?

Great video K&M , other than the fact that as we both watched this I have now just been assigned the job of cleaning ours ! 😄 Good advice about having the right tools - so much easier than using a knife and fork! Our caravan ( 2011 Sterling Celebration 550) also needs the omnivent cleaning , so looking for advice on that as the switches are a bit dicky - probably dirt build up, fan doesn’t always work. Great work from the 2 of you 👍🏻

Hi Rog, We’ve never seen an opaque one, which leads us to believe it possibly is the UV effects 🤔 Hopefully someone else will comment on this & enlightenment us. Keith & Michele

Hi, good video - just wanted to point out that your rooflight is an MPK visionvent, not a Heki. As far as I’m aware all Heki’s have a single opening handle rather than two. You cannot dismantle Heki’s in the same way as the MPK, as the opening panel is all in one piece. Fortunately however they don’t suffer from the same problem with dirt building up inside the panel.

Hi Keith / Michelle. Hope you're both keeping well. Just been around the caravan today and found one of the windows hasn't been opened for years if ever so it's stuck tight on the seal. Don't want to force the seal as it will probably get damaged. Have you come across this before and do you have any tips to get it opened without doing any damage to the rubber seal? Alan & Ally

Hi Alan & Alley, As we say in many of our videos, we’re not experts, but this our advice. Because the window has been closed for many years, it is more than likely that the window rubbers have fused to the window. Obviously, it is very important not to damage the acrylic window as this is hugely expensive to replace, replacing the rubber seal is the cheapest option. To separate the window from the rubber, we advise using a long piece of dental floss in between the surround & the window, working your way round the whole window. You could try using a very small flat screwdriver to ease the floss in between the window & surround. @@keithandmichele Will have to see about some new seals before making any mess or Ally will be on my case. If I do take the plunge, i'll do a video but at the moment I'm thinking the dealer may be the route to go down. Maybe better to be safe than sorry. The thought of breaking a window and trying with an 8 year old van to get a new one just frightens me to death. Thanks for tips. Alan

Hi Keith As discussed I have today on site tackled both the bathroom and bedroom roof windows 👍 Great news followed everything you showed and was a success!!!!! However on closing the bedroom the surround has come out in one corner (a screw) question is how do I get the outer trim off any idea's please 😁 Darren

I found the video very interesting and has given me the confidence to have a go myself. I have the problem that one the handles is broken and would like to know where or is it possible to get a replacement part. After searching the web I'm finding it very difficult , mines a small Heki it looks like the one in your video and you have to squeeze the handle to release the catch, seems the springs have broken and the plastic around it, any help would be much appreciated....thank you!

Hi Kate, We thought it was called a Heki but they are in fact called MPK vents. Have a look at eBay, type in mpk rooflight. Prices start at £37.95 for a new one. Hope this helps, Keith & Michele.

Yes I realised that it wasn't a Heki after trolling through dozens of different one's on the net...lol. I have decided to replace the dome because it comes with handles which you can't buy on their own these days, my van is not new and I was told the acrylic dome part cracks eventually so better to be safe than sorry! I had the same problem on my Swift. Got fed up trying to clean them so replaced both (bedroom & bathroom with "Mini Heki's". These are similar to the big one in the lounge don't have the double skin and fit the same hole already cut in the roof, (400mm X 400mm). Cost around £110 each so not cheap but fairly easy to do with basic DIY skills and the correct sealer etc. Some good videos exist on KZfaq for reference. Check them out. Nick.

Do you really need to get up a ladder to remove it?.... After undoing the screws and uncoupling the arms, I lifted and manoeuvred mine so that the edges were vertical, then turned it in the vertical state so the long edge went corner to corner in the hole and it came through into the inside.. no ladders or going outside involved.

Great video Keith, make sure you buy good quality Torx keys, also the screwdriver type Torx are worth investing in a set as they a lot easier to handle, can't go wrong with Halford's.
