FYI. This ONLY works with carpet padding staples! If you are trying to remove staples that held a wood underlayment under your vinyl tile floor, those staples will not come out with this method. They are too long and a bear to pull by hand. I suggest if you are covering the area with tile and cement board is going over the wood sub-floor, just pound them into the sub-floor because it is going to be covered with thinset anyway. This will save you a TON of backbreaking work! Otherwise, this is a great video for removing carpet staples quickly!

Glad to see it worked for you but my subfloor had very difficult to remove staples from 60 years and I had to hand pick each one out with screwdriver and pliers like pulling an embedded tooth. Hands are full of blisters even wearing gloves

We are putting down lux vinyl planks and the guy at Lowes told us to pull them all up. He said if we cut them off or hammer them into the floor the planks will not sit even. Subfloor must be flush. I know nothing about this stuff... just that I have been pulling staples for days :S

Did not work, just bent all the staples over for me, now going to be harder to get them, ugh

Tried this, we have staples that are flat to the floor with padding underneath, tried a few things, it's a nightmare! any other suggestions?
