How to Remove Engine from Dodge Charger/Chrysler 300 Hemi

I made this video of Removing a HEMI engine from a Chrysler 300 but the procedures are the same for the Dodge Charger HEMI. This is just a overlook on what all is involved in removing one of this engines, that way you can have an Idea.

Thanks to you bro I got my 2012 chrysler 300 srt’s 392 ALMOST ready to take out. The fan assembly for the 392 was harder to take out cause the engine is big but I managed to wiggle it out. Pretty sure there was an easier way but I got it out lol anyways nice video man you helped me a lot it’s my first time too btw.

Nice video! It's helped me out a lot, my 06 charger dropped a valve seat and I'm going to do the engine swap myself, kinda worried me since I've never done an engine swap on anything this new, thank you so much, I think I have the confidence to do it myself now!

good video i plan to build my 2008 hemi with just a bigger stroke and cam. do you know a way to put on long tubes with out removing the motor tho if not its all good man.

My 2005 chrysler 300c motor went out. I found a 2014 chrysler 5.7 motor. Is there any mods imma have to do in order to run it.

Hey man I have a 2009 Chrysler 300 5.7l and I want to upgrade my pulleys but I’m not finding the right ones for my car. Can I instal parts that go on the charges engine to my Chrysler since they are almost identical??

Does a engine from a 2006 dodge charger 5.7 hemi fit a 2006 chrysler 300c 5.7 hemi without any modifications, like will it bolt right in? Or do i have to change computers or anything like that ? Im doing a swap

will it fit.. yes.. it should bolt right up as far as the housing .. not sure about the manifolds etc .. but you can always call your local junk yards and they would know what engines are compatible.

Hey did you have to remove the transmission lines that go to the radiator from the bell housing ? Or was it just the belt housing bolts and the starter bolts you undid? Thanks

honestly not sure.. but i do think the AWD and the RWD versions of it have different oil pans ..

My charger has a dropped valve seat, and it scattered a piston down into the oil pan. I'll be removing the motor for replacement, and this video was very helpful! Quick question for ya. I was able to unbolt the A/C compressor and just moved it over next to the wheel well. Did you have another reason that you disconnected yours besides clearance? Thank you so much for making the video! It's really helped me visualize each step as I'm tearing this down.

I believe the same thing happened to mine it blow a hole through the oil pan. I reached in the oil pan and found shards of metal. What do u think?

Just did put a new engine in and it’s something that is wired wrong making the ground wire hot and start smoking ? You know what I could possibly have wired wrong

that usually happens when it loose or not making good contact .. check ALL grounds going into the engine

How about removing the front bumper, radiators, etc...would it be easier to pull the engine out that way?

not worth the trouble in my opinion.. not on this car. I do it on rams and other cars but on this one its not worth it

Affirmative! I have a 06 300C w/ a blown 5.7 hemi engine. I decided to do the swap instead of doing the head gaskets. Just waiting on my local junkyards to get one in stock :) I could've probably saved the old engine but I was too cheap to pay $60 for the towing. LOL

Do you remember where all the ground wires go on the back of the engine? I kinda forgot except those two small wires connected to the water pipe bracket!!! Do any of the ground wires connect to the tranny bolts? I reinstalled the engine however the alternator is not charging, the engine starts and runs fine until the battery gets empty! I did test the alternator. Thank you in advance!

I forgot to connect the second positive wire that connects to the starter. Good thing I took some photos prior removing the engine. LOL

So, how long did it take from start to finish? I'm trying to see how long it would take me to pull a Hemi out of a wrecking yard.

if its your first time maybe from 5-7 hours.. maybe less

these things don't look easy to remove. 5 to 7 hours is a long time. Have to be there when the wrecking yard opens until it almost closing time. Yikes!

good think about the wreakinyard YOU dont have to worry about re attaching connectors or hoses ... worst case scenario just cut wires and hoses off .... then you can take your time on your vehicle
