Just thought I would let you know that your helpful video helped inspire me to dig up a portion of my lawn to make room for a raised bed (Mother's Day gift from my children). In addition, I used the nice pieces of sod to fill in an area I was thinking about reseeding. It took me many hours and a lot of aching muscles, but I got it done. It worked just as you showed. Thanks for making this video. It really helped show me I could do it too. My husband also now has jumped in and the very next day, placed my new raised bed in it's spot. Just dirt now and away we go...

Ooh, that's how you do it in a civilized way! :))) I always just came out with my cultivator and tilled the dirt until all grass just fell off of it :)))) I will try your way now :) Thank you for sharing! ♥

The downfall about placing plants in any location in or near utility boxes, is that at any point in time, any and all utility companies can come and dig up that location WITHOUT approval.

You seem like such a sweet lady! My son and I are working on uplifting sod...but we've been doing it with a shovel, which works but that little shovel you used looks like it would be easier to make the cuts into the grass/dirt. I was outside extending one of my flowerbeds and kept thinking that there has to be a better way. 1. My ground is super wet, which I thought would work in my favor. Nope. 2. I did not work in sections like you did so I was only getting super small sections of grass with tons of effort. 3. So glad you teach even the simplest projects for newbies like me. Guess I will be doing this another day when the ground dries out. Now for some mint tea and a shower!

Thank you for this video. I have an area next to my 3 season porch that I want to plant some ornamental grass and didn't know how to remove the grass. Last time I did this I literally pulled the grass out by hand. Too old for that now. This will be much easier.

Nice to see a woman showing us how to do it. A lot work but I thought you were doing your whole lawn. If that was the case I would definitely hire someone to do that. It’s not just the physical labour it’s where to put this heavy grass once lifted and the weight of it. I live alone now as I’m 65 and my husband passed 17 years ago. One son and he’s always busy so that little bit you dug out would do me in dear but well done ! Good job and thank you

omg...we just did this too! we marked out a spot with spray paint then cut the grass on the outside of our marks but the roots were deep...like DEEP! hubby did that whole area because of my back, I can't. anyhow it's about the same size...gonna edge it then maybe brick 2 layers around it for a raised Tree and flower bed...I'll show you on FB! can't wait to see this finished Laura!! xo
