Thanks for the prompt reply, my XF has the washer built into the headlight (the silver panel bottom centre), so looks like the are 2 variants. I will have to dig further, thanks

There are two variants indeed. But dealing with the washer nozzles is not difficult. You will see once you get the bumper off.

Thanks Hilton. In your opening introduction, you mentioned you did not have the correct adaptor rings for the bulbs you were trying to install. Are all of your bulbs standard halogen or do you have Xenon's in the low beam? In the Australian model MY2011, I have Xenon Low Beam that take a D1S bulb and I needed to remove a collar/adaptor from the old bulb in order to fit the new bulb. Initially I thought I had the incorrect bulb, but with closer examination and a little exploring of the differences, we realised our error. With the high beam, I have just completed a Full LED conversion from USA and an adaptor from China. The H7 replacement LEDs and Drivers were all mounted comfortably within the high beam enclosure. I took it for a drive last night and the beam pattern is identical to the original, but at least twice the apparent brightness. Some road signs give strong reflections, which may be problematic, but you can see other objects on the road or roadside more clearly for a greater distance. My opinion and my subjective testing, but a great mod from my perspective with no error codes generated. Also did LED W5W side/parking bulb replacements and the colours now match the HID low beam and LED high beam. I am considering a post of my LED conversion on the Jaguarforums.com site.

MH30R Thanks for your comment bro. I really would appreciate you putting something up on the forum because I used the H7 halogen adapter but found that the collars that screw into the headlight fitting aren't high enough. I bought two different sets of LED bulbs and neither would fit. It came down to the adapter not being the same as the original one which has a square center. It would be great if you could give me a link where I can find the adapter you bought. I got mine off eBay. Thanks again.

I got my H7 LED adaptors from here, also on eBay: www.ebay.com.au/itm/232233094832 These ones have a 19 mm circular centre to take the LED body/barrel. There was a removable collar on the LED body which this adaptor fitted nicely behind. I did not do any modifications to the headlight or harness or LED or adaptor. They all fitted together well. MH30R Thanks bud. I read your tutorial (very well written and illustrated), and now I see the difference. You adapter on the later models is different to the earlier models. Also, your headlight housing seems to have two "screws" either side where the adapter clips into. Mine doesn't. It has two raised hooks that are welded onto the housing where the H7 ring clips into. And the ears of the adapter ring are higher to accommodate the space between bulb and headlight. Perhaps I'll do a video of that to show everyone what I'm talking about in the hope that there's a simple fix for this by buying an adapter like the one I have now ;-) Thanks so much for posting that tutorial. MH30R You won't believe this! After trawling eBay I found the ones that fit my car. They are slightly different to yours but look the same. One has to have an eye for detail on these things. Great video, can not see anything on connecting the washer hose to the headlight unit. Is there 2 versions of headlight unit 1 for waser and 1 without, thanks

Yes. My headlights didn't have washers, but if you watch my video of removing my XFR bumper you can see how to disconnect the washers. Very easy to do.

I checked today the book and doesn't exist fuse for xenon inside.i checked in engine bay and in truck but wasn't there too.i will check tommorow the interior fuses too.thank you for your answers

Promarios Sigma I checked my manual and they are in the engine compartment. F16 mini Left Hand 20 AMP Yellow F17 mini Right Hand 20 AMP Yellow Engine compartment, 2nd row from the left of mini fuses. It'll be the 3rd(F17) and 4th(F16) from the bottom of that row.

Master Hilton, my jaguar xf 2009 has some dumping sound in the gear tunnel but works good. My friend told me the transmission switch needs reprogramming , is there's something named like that? Thanks alot..

@@carfanfan You didn't mention that 2014 model (facelift) needs the front bumper to be removed! But I somehow managed to get the headlight out without removing the bumper fully. The problem now is - even after changing to new ballast & new HID light, its not working. What else the problem could be? Please help!

@@BaskaranD This video is for the pre-facelift model, you can easily see that from the video. Most of these guys are working on their own cars, not covering every eventuality for every model. Re. the problem, sounds obvious but have you checked the fuse? Lots of people don't. If that's not the problem you're better going to an auto electrician if you're not sure what you're doing or what to look for, vehicle electrics can be complex now on many cars.

Unfortunately not. The facelifts headlights have a bottom lip which the bumper clips into. It has to be removed tonget the headlights out.

Once again, thank you; I have to admit that it wasn't fun at all, but at least I saved a lot. Dealer would charge me triple for the bulb, $100 + labor fees, disposable trash fee. Total would be around $200-300. I learned something yesterday. Got that car since 2012, will never get another Jag in my life.

@@kingjulien9525 Lots of cars have similar procedures, it's no doubt to make people use the main dealers but to be honest I just did this to change my sidelamps and the whole process was simple. Undo 3 bolts, pull the housing out, change the bulbs put it back. I'm not usually a very practical person but this was really easy.

@severn sea True that. I was the same as well. But watching those DIY tutorials are very helpful. First time it took me 30min, then around 15, the other day less than 5min. I even removed the front bumper last year to push back the fake air vent. That was entertaining. Anyway thank you. As I said before, I don't myself having another car until this one dies on me.😷🤣😅

The headlight tab that connects the upper left side to the car on mine broke off. So, I need to replace that passenger side light (the same one as yours but I'm from America). The one thing that I didn't see you explain or talk about was the washer system incorporated into the light assembly. You did not mention anything about how to properly disconnect it. In fact, you didn't even seem to notice it at all since there was nothing that was disconnected or reconnected when you pulled it off or put it back on. Is it possible that your car did not come with this headlight washing option?

Hey Rick. Mine didn't have headlight washers. It's easy though, once you get the headlight loose, just as you would disconnect the wiring loom from the light, you simply unplug the washer on each light. It's just a rubber hose that fits over a plastic grommet. Very easy to undo and reinstall again. 😉

a DIY Car Guy Thanks. Its those standard ones you find on eBay. They look similar, but the ears that clip into H7 bracket are too short and low. Audi and Merc have a similar setup. But these don't work on Jaguar :-(

Greetings brother, do you know if 2010 Jaguar XF will give off CANBUS errors if you were to install a LED in a normal-halogen situation?

The answer is, no it won't. I upgraded this particular cars headlights to LED and it worked fine. The indicator is the only thing that gives a canvas error even with canvas bulbs. I did a video on it.

@@carfanfan That's the reason they do it, they want people to take the car into the dealers. Lots of cars have similar quirks. To get to one of the sidelight bulbs on my Volvo I had to disconnect the screenwash pipes and take the washer bottle off.

Promarios Sigma I don't actually know all the answers to your questions, but recommend you take a read at your owners manual. There are three fuse panels, one in the engine bay (probably where the xenon fuses are), one in the drivers foot well (passenger on RHD models) and one in the trunk by the battery. Hope this helps.

I'm afraid the procedure is very different on the facelift models. The entire bumper must be removed to get the headlights out.

To be honest, I'm really not sure. But I would suspect its pretty similar as their design is similar. What I suggest you do is take a look on eBay at some headlights for Jaguar XJ's and that will give you an idea where the screws and mounts are that hold it in place. I don't think you need to remove the bumper on an XJ to take the headlight out either.

I have xkr, probably similar removal technique , what about the headlamp washer, i couldn't see any pipes being removed? Mine aren't working at the moment. Thanks

Have you changed your indicator bulbs to Led?

Unfortunately its not possible unless I install a transistor between the lights and the plug for the bulb - I left it because I don't want to cut my original wiring.

Is the xenon ballast chip inside lights or is located to another place??

The Xenon ballast is situated underneath the headlight housing on the outside. Be careful, it can store large amounts of power even when unplugged.

Unfortunately not. You have to change the hood, fenders and bumper as well as the front apron to which the bumper, hood and headlights attach to. Better to just buy a facelift version 😉

@@carfanfan Thanks. But what is the facelift, and where do I get it from. Also, do you know where do I get replacement plugs for wire harnesses. The three under the passenger seat (left driving) got water and got corroded.

@@adm61299 The facelift came out 2012. I'd suggest a breakers yard for the harness. Best place to get spares like that.
