This video will show how to remove the fuel filter of a VW Jetta 2007. There are some other videos on the internet. I decided to make another because I felt it was needed. Otherwise I wouldn't have made it. Shot on a Samsung Galaxy S3. Made and published 112515.

Thanks for the video. Helped on my 2012 jetta mk6. Go slow and push the line toward the filter first, then push the clip and slide the fuel line off. When putting the lines back on, you can either push on til it clicks or push in the clip and slide over the filter tube.

Great video and explanation. Did today (10 min work), on a Golf mk5 2007. Careful on eyes, gasoline fall after pipes are open, but only few, after stops.

It was going well until I found out the screw holding my fuel filter was completely rusted flat. Since I don’t have anything to remove it I’m going to have to bring it to the mechanic so they can lift it and have an easier access point. Useful video tho, thanks!

Any future watchers: Remove the fuel pump fuse and try to start or stall the car, that way you wont have as much fuel spill all over the place. Also i wouldnt remove the fuel cap since it has negative pressure which helps you not to spill too much.

@@boomerguy9935 good job. I tried looking for mine but theres no diagram or label i could find for a golf. Now just pull the fuse and wait for it to stall, then there should be no fuel pressure left and u wont make a mess :)

great video, there's a valve stem for fuel pressure under your air filter. it has a gray cap. use a rag and release the fuel pressure carefully. before you start removing fuel lines. this stem can be used to purge the system too,if you know how.

2022 VIDEO UPDATE: I did not mention it in the video but please make sure that you install the correct fuel filter. There are basically 2 types of pressures (in bar) . There is the (6.6 bar) fuel filter and the (4.0 bar) fuel filter. For a 2.5L engine it is usually the (4.0 bar). For a 2.0L engine it is usually a (6.6 bar). Since my car is a 2.5L engine I installed the 4.0 bar filter. But please make sure you research it anyways or install the same one it came with. Here are some links I found (non-affiliate links; you can buy a filter from whatever website you want. This website just happened to have the list I was looking for): 6.6 bar Models - www.shopdap.com/make-model-year/volkswagen/jetta/mk5-2005-5-2010/engine/2-0-turbo-fsi/repair/fuel/fuel-filter-6-6-bar.html 4.0 bar Models - www.shopdap.com/make-model-year/volkswagen/jetta/mk5-2005-5-2010/engine/2-5/repair/fuel/6q0-201-051-j.html HOPE THIS HELPS!!!😀

Any knowledgeable car people know why there are two lines going into filter and one coming out. And some fuel filters have one going in and one coming out? Also some videos I see people take the fuel pump fuse out and let the car stall out to drain the fuel, do you need to do that for the jetta?

Saw other videos mentioning about removing fuel fuse to relieve the pressure. Is it not necessary for jetta?
@rodaraguz
@rodaraguz 7 жыл бұрын
I didn't do it and I didn't have any problems. Just open the gas cap to relieve pressure that way. You could if you wanted to.

I have a 2009 2.5L MK5 and have not changed the OEM fuel filter. It has 121k miles on it. I have used Lucas fuel injector cleaner and it has cleaned the deposits out of the system. I don’t think the fuel cleaner did much for the fuel filter itself. The problem is I’m experiencing late throttle response. I feel it might be the fuel filter that is causing the issue. How overdue is the fuel filter change? How often should I change it?
@ignaciom32
@ignaciom32 2 жыл бұрын
Old comment but this can help others. You are over 80k miles overdue, this should be replaced every 40k miles.

Does pushing in the clips prevent the gas from coming out, or is it simply to remove the line from the filter?
@rodaraguz
@rodaraguz 8 жыл бұрын
Simply to take remove filter from the lines. Some gas will come out of the filter because there is some stored there but it won't come out of the lines

@@rodaraguz thanks video is helpful. I have a couple of suggestions. 1) I have 05 jetta (new) its hard to find videos on this car as it was the year they changed body style. It has 05 and 06 parts. Suggestion- change name of video to 05-07? Jetta 2.5 or not a tdi...lol 2) I was worried about how much gas was going to come out. Maybe address that not much comes out ( good call on glasses an coffee can) got a bit worried when I seen wear glasses but no explanition on what to expect. 3) When I took off screw I didn't realize that there was a peg behind blue hose and that there was a small bit of plastic holding the bracket together all though the screw was completely out. (Bit of plastic made it seem like it was supposed to open from other direction.) After I cut small bit of plastic it came out easily. 4) finally. Maybe add caution as to not bend fuel line harshly when removing last fuel line as they are metal an they could kink or break. Thanks again.
